An unknown person named Allen has filed a report claiming that Disability Associates provides misleading information about eligibility to become a disability advocate. Mr. Allen's comments are substantially incorrect. His comments clearly demonstrate why it's so important that you acquire your training from an experienced company lime Disability Associates, Inc. Mr. Allen, who we believe is nothing more than a competitor hiding behind a false name, claims that you must have a degree to practice or be certified as a disability advocate. This is completely incorrect! This person even goes so far as to refer to DA, Inc. as a scam despite 21 years of flawless representational service. Applicants who do not have a bachelor's degree may satisfy the prerequisites based on a combination of training and work experience. SSA Certification is offered via CPS Human Resource Services which is an internal government agency. Qualification for those with and without degrees can be found at: cps.ca.gov/tlc/ssa/education.asp. Here is a direct quote from the CPS website on the issue of education and eligibility for certification: "If the applicant has less than one year of undergraduate study at an accredited institution of higher learning, or no undergraduate education, the applicant must have received a high school diploma or GED certificate and have at least four years of relevant professional experience, at least two years of which must have involved claims for benefits under title II or title XVI of the Act." This means that with our education and a few years of experience, even those with just a high-school education have the option of being certified. Anyone can feed you bogus information on the Internet. That's why it's so important to check out a company using reputable reporting agencies like the BBB. Mr. Allen's coments were proven to be incorrect more than 3 years ago and yet his false comments are still posted on this site.
