Direct Tv will charge you for movies you wanted to watch but the Ripped off by Direct Tv:

We just got off the phone with Direct Tv where a supervisor told us they could charge us for movies we never saw. On certain days we attempted to order movies when the phone was not plugged into the receiver and the chip recorded our attempt as if we got to watch the movie.

Then when we finally did plug in the phone to the receiver (when we were not in lala land) the company collected all the attempted, and have sent us a bill for $101.56.

This could happen to you too. Don't get Direct TV.

As a former employee of one of the call centers handling DirecTv customers I understand your plight

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: Kathi Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion Rebuttal: As a former employee of one of the call centers handling DirecTv customers I understand your plight. I had received endless calls from customers stating there were charges on the bill for movies from several months back. When you signed up for the service you were told that if you wanted instant pay per view movies (where you can order with your remote rather than call in) you needed to have a phone line plugged into the receiver at all times. It is still possible to order AND view movies if the phone line is not plugged in - but the chip/card in the receiver will record it. Then when the phone line is plugged in all the information is downloaded and you are billed. Or when you have reached the limit on the chip you are no longer able to order any more movies. The employees at DirecTv do not know (and more honestly, don't care) if you have watched the movies or not. You ordered them with the intent to watch them. If you rented a movie from a video store but never got to watch it, do you think they would refund your money if you told them you didn't watch it? Plain and simple, if you don't intend to watch the movie, then don't order it. And make sure you have the phone line plugged in all the time!
