Direct Merchants Bank ripoff deceptive company Chicago Illinois
Several years ago I was sent an unsolicited pre-approved credit card from Direct Merchants Bank. It had a $200.00 limit for which I had to pay a $95.00 Processing Fee. I was young, naive and stupid, and took the deal.
The first time I ried to use the card it was declined, so I called Direct Merchants Bank, and they told me I was over my credit limit. I explained that I had a $200.00 limit, and I was only spending $8.00 or so at the local Walgreens.
I was told that part of what I was signing when I accepted the card was the consent to have "special offers" from Direct Merchants Bank automatically charged to my account, in this case it was some $200.00 per year auto club membership.
I explained that I didn't own a car, and I would not pay the bill, and here six or seven years later it is still on my credit report as a charge off repleat with fee's and interest and God only knows what all else they tacked on.
