Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I find myself in a position of great concern. Debt Relievers, Inc. seems to have thrown everyone's privacy out the window. On at least two occations, Debt releivers has sent out an "informational" e-mail stating a new phone number with most if not all of its clients e-mail addresses on it. Mica Souza originated the e-mail and provided what appeared to be every current clients e-mail to every other client who had e-mail. This is only a part of the issue. Ameridebt may be the Hot Topic when it comes to the media and Debt Counselors but Debt Relievers is just as guilty and is at least in my case in the process of destroying my credit. They have not held up to what they agreed to in the contract I signed.

I have been with this program since March of 2003. At the time I had no Late pays, no over the limit problems, my interest rates were somewhat competative. I infact was told by a few other debt counselors that I should try to work with the Credit Card companys because of my good credit and I will emphasize good credit. I am and was very much in debt but managed barely to make my monthly minimum payments. Although I had a lot of credit cards, only two were as high as 24.98% (MBNA). Since, I have gone on this program, Debt Relievers has managed to hold my 2,201.00 a month payment that they themselves ACH or electronically withdraw from my account for what appears to be nearly 30 days.

As a result, even though, I made payments during the first 30 days of this program because Debt relievers holds your first payment, my creditors are still calling, my interest rates have gone up. Debt Relievers goes through employees like crazy. Every time you think you get a good person to help you, they leave. The e-mails that I have sent in the past only state that you should contact them with your issues, I call and get voice mail and it says the box is full. If I leave a message, 90% of the time, I hear nothing back. Many of the creditors insist that they are not working with Debt Relievers at all. I don't believe that any of my accounts have reaged as Debt Relievers has stated they would. I am getting late fees month after month as well as over the limit fees. As a result of all of this, I am sliding backwards instead of making headway. These people are not here to help us. They have nearly destroyed my credit which as I stated before was perfect with the exception of my high debt.

I was finally sent a payment history on 11-19-03, this was only the second such history I have ever recieved. I was told I would recieve a monthly printout when I signed up. The information is correct from the what they have paid. I, however, do not understand why if I am required to electronically send them the payment that they hold the money for as long as they do. In many cases, the credit card companies are also receiving the payments electronically from Debt Relievers. Because of this, if Debt Relievers sends the payments when they claim, the payment should not take more then 6 - 8 days at the most from the time it leaves my bank. An electronic payment does not need to be held to clear the bank.

Another example, I initiated a payment on October 13, 2003 from my bank. Debt Relievers charged my account on October 17, 2003 for 2201.00 Debt Relievers claims to have received it on October 24, 2003, 7 days after the charge. The payment according to Debt Relievers HAS NOT BEEN DISBURSED to my Creditors as of November 19, 2003, over 30 days from the date it left my bank. I sent another payment, not knowing that the disbursement was held up on 11-13-03 and it was deducted from my account on November 17, 2003. They acknowledged the payment was received but stated they would needed to hold the funds for 5 days after. This is a bit confusing however, bottom line they have 4,402.00 that they have not disbursed to my knowledge as of the time of this e-mail. In addition to all the rest, I have yet to receive confirmation in writing of what Credit Card companies are agreeing to work with Debt Relievers.

If you have the same issues, please e-mail me with information that you feel comfortable talking about. As I stated before, Debt Relievers broadcast the change in an 800 number and gave everyone on the list the e-mails of its clients out of ignorance.

I do not know who Mr. McDivitt is or why he chooses to run his "business" in such a way, but he needs to get his house in order as many of us thought we were doing when we signed our souls over to Debt Relievers.

Sincerely,

James

DEBT RELEIVERS RIPPED ME OFF

I was trying to avoid bankruptcy, not it is unavoidable. My creditors consider me default because Debt Relievers has not paid my debts. I have filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's office and have contacted an attorney. I have e-mailed Gov. Jeb Bush about this matter as well. I am on my way to the bank now to stop Debt Relievers from deducting $200 from my checking account this week. Sincerly,

I would first like to state that the only information we have on our clients credit/creditors is the information given to us by the client. We do not pull a credit report or any such thing. That is the clients privacy and we have always respected that, so if a creditor did get a proposal, it was because the client gave her counsler the wrong information. Second, I would like to state that if a client is going to complain about our services, they should first follow the procedures of the company. In our statement it says that the quote we give is an estimate and does vary on your creditor and their needs from the client. If a client refuses an increase of payment that the creditor requests, of course their account isn't going to be benefited on our program. If you sign a service agreement, we assume that you have read and understand everything on it. This program is built by your creditors so it works according to their needs from the client. All our clients understand that once they READ the agreement THEY sign. I never stated that I was a client service representative at the company at the time, therefore I'm not the one who needs to get back to you, but during my times of being a client service rep, I definately got back to my clients when I said I would. It is a companies duty to read any reports on their company so that they may continuously better themselves to benefit our clients. If an employee was " surfing " the net for play, I truly doubt that a rebuttal site on their company would be where they would go. Here we have two clients unsatisfied with our company when we have thousands of clients satisfied with us. Two out of thousands is definately not bad. Like I've stated before, if you are a client and have any doubts, check our status with the BBB.

I just wanted to state that everything the previous client wrote has happened to me word for word !! I have been with this company for over a year and am much worse off now than before I started the program. As the client stated before, I too am still receiving collections calls from each creditor stating that no payment has been received or we are three months behind on payments. My payment to Debt Relievers is also deducted monthly by ACH which I was told we had to do in order to get my payments to each creditor on time. So far, this is not the case at all !! I am being charged late fees, over the credit fees and now my interest rates are even higher than when I began on the program !! As a result of using Debt Relievers, my credit rating is so poor that all my other creditors who are not even in this program have decided to just close out my accounts because it has caused my credit to look even worse. I now cannot even have one credit card. Each creditor is automatically assuming I am a credit risk because I am affiliated with Debt Relievers. Instead of my credit getting better like Debt Relievers stated it would, my credit is worse. The only reason I joined this program was to get lower interest rates on my cards & pay them off earler. My credit before was fine and now I have it tarnished & may never get it back on track. Debt Relievers also misrepresented me with another one of my creditors who was not even place with them on the program. Debt Relievers sent this credit card company a proposal to negotiate a lower rate. This company cancelled my card because of this. I called this company and had to explain I never placed them on this program at Debt Relievers and I cannot explain how Debt Relievers got the info for this card to even send them a proposal. I finally got it worked out after about three months and this company is working with me again. I of course asked Debt Relievers how come they did that and never received a response back. I have tried to get statements sent to me monthly so I can keep up with this and I have received maybe two statements since March of 2003. Its been a year and my credit is not any better and I am so frustrated because I feel that a year's worth of my money is just gone now and I cant get anything to show for it or any of it back to help continue to pay off this even higher debt. I find it funny that an employee of Debt Relievers has the time to surf the web & rebutt negative comments of clients when they cannot even find the time to return phone calls or reply to emails concerning our accounts. That employees questions should be are there any satisfied customers of Debt Relievers because we would love to hear from them !!

I apologize for all the inconvenience

I am the receptionist at Debt Relievers Inc. Emailing the clients our new 800 number was one of the first projects that they assigned to me. When I started emailing the clients, (It wasn't all the clients. We have too many clients to send in one email)I wasn't aware that the emails weren't being BCC-ed. (blind copied) When a client called advising of this, I stopped right away and started making sure that the BCC was on. I apologize for all the inconvenience. Please make your own personal judgement of our company. Check our status with the Better Business Bureau before making any quick decisions of our company. My mistake was aside from DRI. I truely apologize. Please disregard any comments made by a single unsatisfied client. If you have any doubts on our business, do the research on your own and you will see that it's a whole other story. Thank you for your time. Again, I apologize.
