This is in response to the rebuttal to the Debbie in PETsMART complaint. The thing you must understand is that PETsMART merely donates the space in their stores and the supplies needed to allow independent rescue/adoption organizations to function in the store and have better exposure for more adoptions and less euthanasia. It's very unfortunate that a woman kind enough to help save live is such a bold faced racist! The best and ONLY thing that you can do is talk to the manager and request that they ask that woman to refrain from discriminating and treat everyone fairly, or ask her to not be the adoption coordinator. I work at a PETsMART in Columbus, OH, and we had a problem with a certain volunteer that was upsetting customers and she is now banned from our store. It can be done! Insist on it!

Angela, I'm sorry to hear about the ignorance of the employee in question. I noted the fact that she was connected with them in your report, and my advice to you would be to still follow up with the PetSmart management in this case. If they gave you a gift certificate, they must of clearly knew they were in the wrong, and they could be using the gift certificate as a way to try to slither out of a potentially big mess. You sound like your not mad at PetSmart at all,and that is a good attitude to have, but if she is still employed with them, you might want to encourage them to take appropriate action as her conduct toward you is deserving of termination, or a disciplinary suspension at the very least. Good luck!
