This is a highly sensitive case, as I am still working at DCG Marketing in Belfast. The company operates under the umbrella of Cobra Group - a well documented fraudster to eager marketing professionals. Unlike a traditional marketing and advertising company, where I have previously worked for a salary of between 25,000 to 30,000 - this company is 100% commission based salary under self-employment.
The staff levels are too large to cater for their inspirational ladder of success to leadership, crew leader, assistant manager and owner. Too many staff means that not everyone gets the proper chance at success. Their main marketing technique is door knocking for around 50-60 hours per week. Although I am currently sucessful in making 300-400 pound per week, the excessive hours, in differing weather conditions do not equal the commission rates. Plus money is kept in secure bonds for up to 150 days and then Cobra gets back saying how many sales have been cancelled in six months. Thus, they can say whatever they like. You don't get your full expected earnings.
The managers are bullish, rude, excessive and totally unpleasant. They have their social ring which means preferential promotion opportunities. They turn their nose up at sickness, family circumstances and genuine excuses. Being self-employed obviously means no pay, but the company do not help with travel expenses, lunch arrangements or even a taxi account, as we could leave the office by 10.30 in some cases, with some having to travel an hour home, like myself.
There is a general nasty attitude to the office. Behind the jovial pumped up morning meetings is backstabbing, strong arguments and people unwilling to help. The award ceremonies, nights out and morning meetings are just a facade to an otherwise worldwidely scrupoulous organisation.
I would appreciate some help with this company. Whether its ex-employees, marketing companies with different attitudes, or even the legal system. It just seems that poor pay, hidden bond rejections, a not-quite-right management pyramid, poor management is just not correct. But sure, maybe people can help.
Many thanks,
