Purchased a 'new' 2001 vehicle which had 100 miles on it. Was told by salesman "we traded this out from another dealership" as the reason for the mileage. Was sold the extended warrantee because "expensive items like the three engine computers can cost $1,000 to fix. THIS warantee covers them for 8yrs/80,000 miles".
Got home and found a prior Bill of Sale in the glove box indicating they had sold this car a week earlier and the prior customers had to return it due to poor credit or change of mind. Car had not completed the registration process, so the dealership considered it "NEW". A review of the original manufacturer warantee revealed the engine computer items WERE ALREADY COVERED under warrantee for approx the same 8yr/80,000 miles and purchasing the add on warrantee was unnecessary.
