Dairy Queen And Their "no Break" Policy Favortism, no breaks, managers with ADD and attitude problems Denver Colorado
When I first moved to Colorado, I was accepted to work at the Dairy Queen around the corner from my house. The first week during the "interviews" should have tipped me off because they kept changing their mind then calling me to come in to talk to them again. The training was very slow and uneventful...the morning manager (the shift I always worked) let me practice on drive through for a week, and said I would have time to learn to make the products soon.
Well, the next week rolls around, and there comes a day where I see on the schedule that I am to work the next NIGHT. The next night comes and I walk into work, and suddenly I am having commands barked at me by a manager I have never seen (name is morgan). She yells for me to "get on that blizzard machine" and "just keep poppin em out". I try to explain to her that I have had no training for making anything, and she says she does not want to hear my excuses, and just get to it.
Here I am in the middle of sheer chaos and I don't even know where to start. I have the manager and fellow employees yelling at me to hurry up and no one even realizes I don't know what I'm doing because I WAS NOT TRAINED. After 4 hours or pure terror and a headache as big as Alaska, I turn to the manager and ask when I can take my break. She smirks at me and says "We don't believe in breaks here at Dairy Queen.".
I thought she was just kidding, and went to grab my jacket. She comes around the corner and repeats herself..."I told you, we DON'T believe in breaks at Dairy Queen, now we have a huge line and you need to get back in there." So I get yelled at from night crew for not being trained, and I get yelled at for day crew for me not telling the night manager I was never trained (lying b*tch). It just got worse from there because I started complaining about no breaks and it was a downward spiral ever since.
Ok, aside from this "manager" being a lousy b*tch, she also likes to play favorites...but so does the owners daughter, which ALSO happens to be a manager. She actually started giving more hours and less demeaning work to the new hire she was sleeping with. Oh, and thats not all. The new hire has a pregnant wife at home.
OH AND ONE MORE THING. Dairy Queen drops cones, cups, spoons and even hotdogs on the ground and still serves these things to customers. They talk alot of crap about the customers while they are still visible on the other side of the glass. I have heard them make comments about fat people, ugly babies, and even people in wheelchairs. It truly disgusts me. That is why I quit.
