Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I just wanted to let all of you people know that I agree with what you are saying in regards to Cross Country Bank Visa. I have had my account for almost 3 years. We decided to cancel our account last year to lower our debt to qualify for a house. I have NEVER EVER been late on my account. As a matter of fact, I authorize payments to come out of my accunt on the 15th of every month and my due date is on the 28th. To make a long story short, when my balance was at $0.00 I was actually sent a bill for another $50 for paying my account before billing cycle (I'm guessing in "professional" terms, early termination or something on that order)

In addition, I was also assessed a fee for suspending my card while it had a balance on it. Even though it was minimal, I was still outraged. When they refused to remove it, I IMMEDIATELY wrote to the BBB and wrote a letter to all 3 credit bureaus explaining the situation (because they didn't bring it to mine that I still "owed" until it was almost 60 days past due. I actually had a very nice customer service rep that sent a letter showing the fees were reversed but it took almost 6 months to get the "late" status on my credit removed.

Even though I had the letter from their company as proof, CCB still contacted the credit bureau every month to update my credit file as 30 days late, then 60 days late, then 90 days late, 120 days late, then 180+. This card is a rip off!!! If you are looking to establish your credit, you are MUCH MUCH MUCH better off opening a secured card.

Oh and recently, I received something in the mail regarding a lawsuit against cross country for all of you who are inquiring. The letter asked that if you wanted to be part of the suit, you have to submit certain forms in by the end of November (they were enclosed in the letter). The payout is either an increase in your card (if you're already a present customer)at no charge or refund of yearly fees and any fees you've incurred to increase your credit line if you are a former member.

That isn't much but when you consider how many customers they have, I think it may be plenty.

And the last thing and most important thing, GET YOURSELF A COPY OF THE FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT. You can find it on any site that deals with credit - experian, transouth, etc. It is VERY VERY VERY lenghty but the information you find out that people are not aware of in regards to YOUR LEGAL rights are amazing. You all are entitled to so so so much!!! If you can't afford a lawyer on questions or your rights, call a non-profit credit counseling service. They are also aware of the Fair Credit Reporting Act laws and rules to assist people from being ripped off.
