Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In 2002 I was a student of a local community college seeking a position in the health care field.  After viewing an enticing commercial of Olympia Career Training Institute (now Everest) I was hooked and fell in love with what they were offering. The same training a medical professional would receive at a regular college in half the time plus job placement. It sounded too good to be true and it was. A few weeks later, I decided to leave the local college I was attending and transferred to Olympia and enrolled in their Medical Assistant program. A decision I kick myself for everyday, because if I had stayed at the community college I would have had my RN degree by now and would be working toward my physicians assistant degree.

Over the course of the eight months I gave it my all, and come graduation time I was proud to be a member of the honors society and was going to graduate with honors. All the while, the Placement department talked about all they were going to do for me after my externship was over.

My externship started in mid October and went until the end of November. It was a full-time experience of the day-to-day responsibilities of the position I was seeking.  I was told that I was sent there because they were looking to hire, but that was not the case. When I enquired about the open position they said that they were never hiring and a new student comes from OCTI every month or so. Kind of like a revolving door of what they called free labor.

Finally graduation day came and went with no job leads or anything. Just an empty promise of getting my resume to the right people.  I was a little skeptical but still confident that they would help me start my career in the medical field. I thought with my good grades and certificate in hand, I would be a shoe in at the major hospitals and doctors offices in the Greater Grand Rapids area I couldn't have been more wrong.

It is now 2010 and I have yet to work in my career field. I still have a pending student loan that is currently in default with ever growing interest. Due to the fact that I have to work a min wage job or a touch higher and only have enough money to pay for basic living expenses. I can not go back to school because I am denied financial aid due to the defaulted loan and do not have enough money to attend a community college.
Over the the years I have heard over and over the same story from all different people and I think that it is high time that someone due something about  it. I believe many of us who are victims of this school would not have signed up and applied for student loans had we been given the truth about their graduation percentages, Placement percentages, and placement methods. I found a number of states that have sued these schools (Corinthian Schools) in recent years, but that does not help those of us who are older victims of the schools. This school, and the ones Corinthian has owned, has been doing this for over 20 years. Thats more than 20 years of victims. What is it going to take? Its time all of us band together and let the people know what Corinthian schools are all about to prevent other potential victims that will waste there time and their money on a dream that wont come true.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and if you can not help me can you please send it to someone who might be able to. Many other people and myself  included have been looking for an answer for so long it is well overdue.
