My story is the same as the others. I received a call from a very persuasive individual named Ryan on December 13,2002. He informed me that I qualified for the Mastercard for a one (1) time charge of 269.00. I gave them permission to withdraw this amount from my personal bank account on this date. I was advised I would receive the card within 5-10 days. They finally took the 269.00 on Dec. 24,2002 (christmas eve).
I have made several attempts to contact customer service finally talking to this representive and was advised there must have been a problem with the credit check and to wait 15 business days.
On the 15th day which was Jan.15,2003, I still had not received the mastercard. I called several times every day since that day. On Jan.21,2003 I tried to leave another message as I have done every day and it said I could not leave a message because the mailbox was full. Today on Jan.22,2003 I called again and was able to leave a message as I did. This tells me that customer service has received my message but has refused to return my calls. I thought something was not right because a customer service center has several people working the phones, not one person.
Since social security numbers have been given over the phone it may be necessary for everyone involved to contact credit bureaus and advise them of this situation. It may also be necessary to contact your local bank and verify your account status. It is also necessary that you contact your state and federal agencies.
