The U.S. dollar is worth one and one-half times more than the Canadian dollar. You would think that real estate bargains abound in Canada? NOT if you buy from known problem developers! Over 500 multi-unit buildings in British Columbia alone have been registered with the governments Home Protection Office for leaky condo owner repair loans at no interest set up in response to the shoddy construction crisis.
What looks like a good price on the surface quickly balloons to outrageously expensive as the repair bills mushroom like the fungus on the wet rotting walls. It usually takes from three to five years for a newly constructed building to evidence leaky condo syndrome that was typically associated with SYNTHETIC stucco.
However, too many CONCRETE high rise towers also leak especially around the floor to ceiling windows! New home warranties are so full of exceptions to what is covered that you can drive a tractor trailer through them - not worth the paper they are printed on.
Self-congratulatory home builder industry awards are given for marketing purposes only to bring in the suckers. If the product you buy does not work and leaks - the developers aint legally obliged to fix it!
