College Park-The Landings Apartments in Austin, TX are flea infested!!! unethical landlords
As a college student in Austin, TX I was delighted to move into an apartment with two of my friends. The complex we chose was The Landings Apartments off of E. Riverside. On the first day we were living in our three-bedroom apartment, one of my roomates said that she thought there were ants. As it turns out it was not ants, but fleas. The place was infested! It was impossible to even walk without fleas jumping all over your feet and legs and biting them. My feet were almost swollen from so many bites.
They sent the exterminator who fogged the place, but even that was ineffective. The problem was so bad that they allowed us to break our lease and move out of the complex. On the day that my roomates went to sign the appropriate papers, they were told that the management knew that the place had fleas even before we moved in!
I had to rush to find a new place after school had started; a huge hassle as any student will know. Because I had to find a place at such a late date my rent is an extra $250 per month. I also live alone so I pay my entire electric bills instead of just a third.
My dry cleaning bills were extremely expensive because all my comforters, blankets, and some clothes had to be cleaned to prevent a flea infestation in my new apartment.
These people are unethical and I deserve to be compensated for my increased expense as well as the hassle.
