I thought he was going to write "Her little red car was over the sidewalk!" Now, that would have been a problem. BUT, JUST COMPARE A MIATA TO THAT GOD AWFUL RED TRAILER WITH ALL THE WINDOWS HANGING OFF OF IT TO A MIATA. Which one do you suppose would be a bigger threat to a bicyclist! Did he fail ratio and proportion in his math class for engineering school? Second Point: The attorney pointed out that I had an easement and right-of-ways were consistent with keeping the area open for fire hoses and trucks to get into a homes in an allotment. Sorry again, your socalled "Dalmatian Nose" is barking up the wrong tree. You sound as if you are peeing on a firehydrant! Then Mr. Ostrich - #8, please setup a lie detector test regarding the Bicyclist fall. I'll be right there to take it immediately. I bet you couldn't pass one! Three strikes and you are out! End of Subject!

After 6 months of extensive hearings on this matter the Garland City Council declined to approve the ordinance proposed by the complainant. There was no popular support for the measure but much opposition among citizens of Garland. No citizens spoke on behalf of the anti-RV ordinance while over 75 citizens showed up in opposition on two separate public hearings. Now as to some specific problems with this report: Fire truck access: The complainant claims that the neighbor's outbuilding would prevent fire trucks from moving between the houses. Upon personal discussion of this case with the Garland Fire Chief, I was told that this is not a concern as the GFD does NOT move trucks between burning structures, more do they move their vehicles onto lawns or side yards. The amount of hose on the pump trucks is sufficient to extinguish fires in back and side yards and there is plenty of room for fireman to run hoses through the side yard in question. This complaint fails for lack of merit. Child Injury Threat: The complainant parks a small red car on the street which poses a more significant hazard to bicyclists than the brick decor of the neighbor's driveway. For many years bicycle advocacy groups have listed cars parked in the street, open mail boxes, and loose dogs as the significant hazards for cyclists. Landscaping has yet to make the list. Other accounts of the accident mentioned in the complaint do not track with the complainant's version of the story. FINAL WORDS After discussing this case with an Associate City Manager over Neighborhood Services and the head of the Garland Health Department, I was told that there has been long standing friction between the complainant and her neighbor. As is the policy in most cities, Garland is wisely refraining from alowing its resources to be used as a weapon in this conflict between neighbors. In my opinion this complaint should no longer be entertained.

After the neighbor built this drive for his motor home, he put this brick skirt around it! I think it looks hideous and makes the motor home stick out like a sore thumb. I told me husband that it would just be a matter of time before some kid on a bicycle hits those bricks and ends up getting hurt. Saturday a boy was riding past my house towards 5413. As he approached the bricks he veered to the right, hitting the first set of circular bricks and flew across the drive, just missing the second set of bricks by a millimeter. A party from Mr. Reid's home also witnessed the nasty accident. This boy was eventually able to get up and walk away. THE NEXT CHILD WHO HITS THESE BRICKS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY! These bricks are a death trap. The motor home looms out as big as day. The natural reaction is to veer to the opposite side of the street and that is exactly what happened. WHO WILL BE BLAMED FOR THE NEXT ACCIDENT? This one could have been avoided if the Garland's Committee would have acted on getting the motor home removed. They are dragging their feet! Try telling that to some grieving parent when the next child gets hurt out here! WILL THEY SAY THAT ACCIDENT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN. IT WAS THE LAST ELECTED OFFICIALS FAULT! I am sick of hearing whose fault it is for this motor home being here! It and these bricks need to go! THE COUNCILMAN FROM OUR DISTRICT #3 HAS DONE EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO GET THE MOTOR HOME AND THESE BRICKS OUT OF HERE! HE HAS BEEN SO HELPFUL AND UNDERSTAND BUT HE HAS SOME COUNCIL MEMBERS WHO ARE DRAGGING THIS OUT! THEY SET UP A COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE OVERSIZED VEHICLES OUT HERE, BUT NO ONE HAS ACTED ON IT! Garland, Texas is becoming like California. The people out there tore up their yards to make room for parked cars. This was on national news. This neighbor in GARLAND, TEXAS tore up his yard to make room for that motor home. But, what irritates me is that the motor home has not been driven in over year and it is probably considered a junk vehicle that we have to live with! Everyone else has to keep their inoperable junk vehicles inside their garages! BUT LET ME BY NO MEANS UNDER ESTIMATE MY CONCERNS! I DO NOT WANT TO WITNESS ANOTHER CHILD BEING THROWN FROM A BICYCLE BECAUSE SOME COUNCILMEMBERS THINK THAT LANDSCAPING IS ADDING BEAUTY TO OUR PROPERTY OUT HERE! THE HELL WITH THE LANDSCAPING! LET'S PREVENT ANOTHER ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING NOW! THIS LANDSCAPING IS A DEATH TRAP!
