Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have taken a personal loan some years ago. I was making payments on this loan until in 2011 where it was becoming harder to make payments on this loan. With the economy shifting down and then my wife was diagnose with colon cancer. Commuting was becoming exspensive to and from work mortgage payments utilities food medical bills. Now during that year I  can't remember if I called the leanding institution concerning our financial situation.

In the month of June 2015 I received a letter from a debt collectin agency with a wrong loan account number their client Citifinancial LLC (DE). Immediately I contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Agency informing this debt collection agency trying to colllect on an account with the wrong account number. The CFPB assigned me a case number in which they sent this collection agency a copy of my complaint to determine if they violated any financial laws.

I then send the collection agency a letter informing them of my sititution in which I requested for hardship forms and that my Social Security and VA pensions are Federally Protected including a budget letter for the month of July 2015. It seems that the collection agency returned the debt to their clients. All I have been receiving letters from Citifinancial to make payments in which states that I don't qualify for a loan modification. A consumer must first apply for a loan modification or forgiveness on a loan to determine if they qualify or not. They won't even consider to send me any forms for hardship or forgiveness form to determine if I qualify.

I have read on the internet that there are mortgage modifications and student loan forgiveness but not personal loans. Right now my only source of income is my Social Security and VA pension.

As an activist, I'm as many individual's who had experienced some kind kind of test. I had read where many residents have gone through some type of hardship no matter where there from. I did not provide the wrong account, the collection did. To start an argument, I have taken the loan with a very interest rate. I was making payments on this loan which I have proof. I have read on the internet that there many complaints against this institution. I've provided this information because they have not given me the opportunity to apply for hardship (hearing impaired) individuals, to determine if I qualify. I'm looking for open minded individuals who can assist me with this institution. So Mr. Author, be more constructive, and not part of the problem.

So How Is THAT A Ripoff?

As per your posting, you receive this letter from a collection agency regarding a loan YOU KNEW you were delinquent on.  Using the alleged wrong account number as a technicality to prevent collection, you alert some bureau.  Later, you contact this collection agency and "fess up" to the fact it really is your debt.  You never say if this was a mortgage loan or personal loan.  As per you, your request for so-called modification is denied.  No lender is under any obligation to "help" the borrower.  The contract you agreed to does not give you an excuse for not paying no matter who gets sick, dies or job loss.  There is no ripoff here.
