Citifinancial harrassed me for months to refinance.  Stupidly I did and it has been the worst decision of my life.  Here I am still having  2 years to pay off a 2007 vehicle i purchased in august of  2007.  I finiance an  11k auto and now owe $7800 still.  How does that happen and for the rep to explained because i took a deferment it gave them the right to apply all those payments towards the finance charges verses the principal.  It is sad company execs feel they can sleep at night when they are blindsiding hard working amercians who just need a mode of transportation.

I was just laid off so on top of trying to find a new job , I had to come to the realization that once again something has gone wrong because of the malicious intent of another and my lack of knowledge.

Once again it is amazing how the entitlement attitude of some sub-prime borrowers shines through.

First of all, if a company is "harassing" you to refinance(ie. do business with them), why in the world would you?  Oh..let me guess.  They basically said they could lower your interest rate and payments.  Where since you were having problems paying this sounded great.  They probably even gave you the choice of how long you want the refiance to be.

So if you want to blame anyone for still paying on a loan from 2007 in 2014 plus 2 more years....look in the mirror.

How does that happen and for the rep to explained because i took a deferment it gave them the right to apply all those payments towards the finance charges verses the principal.

- I can guarantee you almost 100% that if you are telling the full story, your balance is NOT because of a single deferment.  At most that would be an extra few hundred dollars in Interest depending on exactly when you had the deferment.    This is how deferments work, it doesn't matter what company you are with.

Unfortunatly since we have zero lack of detail as to the original rates and terms, and the refinanced rates and terms no one here can tell you for sure.  But if you have doubts just look up "Amortization Tables" and plug your numbers in.

Oh and as for the deferment.  I guess for them to be nice and in your mind helping the "hard working americans", they should have denied your deferment and when you failed to make your payment just go ahead and reposess the car.  Yea...that is sooo much better.

It is sad company execs feel they can sleep at night when they are blindsiding hard working amercians who just need a mode of transportation.

- Ummm..you bought a 2007 car in 2007 for 11K.  People that "need" transportation don't need a car that expensive.  You could have found a very reliable used car probably 1-2 years old for 1/2 to 2/3 of that cost.  Unfortunatly you let your "want" overwhelm the "need".

...my lack of knowledge.

- That last line is probably the most logical thing you said.  The problem is that you are an adult.  As an adult YOU are responsible for your decisions.   A lack of knowelge is not an excuse.  Hopefully you have learned to fully read and understand what you are agreeing to.  Where if you can't...bring someone along who can.
