Citi Financial & Michelle will illegally contact neighbors and share information about you ...

I would like to make everyone reading this aware of a person and company that takes illegal and invading practices to a new height.

Like many people I took out a loan from CitiFinancial. I have, for years, made all the payments on time but recently found it very difficult.

I lost my job and found it necessary to "let go" some expenses in order for my wife and child to survive. We refinanced our loan with CitiFinancial and hoped to make the new payments on time.

Well circumstances didn't change and I notified Michelle at Citi Financial I may not be able to make the payments on time or at all. She continued to call me at least 6-10 times a day 6 days a week demanding payment.

I asked her to stop calling but she refused. It was at this time I decided to have our phone number changed and non-published.

Well Michelle illegally contacted two of my neighbors by getting their numbers either on a web-site or from directory assistance. She asked them information about me and attempted to get my phone number. They both refused and did not appreciate the unauthorized contact. She(Michelle), in a moment of stupidness, left a recorded message on one ladies machine.

I just want people to know that bad things happen. I am bothered that because of unfortunate circumstances I currently can't pay my loan payment with CitiFinancial. The note is actually only 2 weeks late.

But this company will call neighbors illegally and share private information with them. They have also had a person they call a "reposession representative" going by and taking pictures of our residence on 4 occassions. This is an unsecured loan so their is nothing they can take!

Just let it be known that Michelle at the CitiFinancial location on Alta Mesa in SW Ft. Worth will take nasty, illegal action in an attempt to embarass a person into paying when they have no choice.

I believe I will have the last laugh as we are currently pursuing a lawsuit against her and CitiFinancial!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, May 14, 2003

I read your story and I have a couple of suggestions. Number one, when a company calls your neighbors and friends, it is called skip tracing. It sounds fraudelant, I know, but it is legal. Your family and friends should not give anyone any information about you. Number two, you don't have to change your phone number. That's just cost you money. You can do what is called a cease and desist letter. In this letter, you state not to contact you by phone and at what number they cannot call. Send that letter certified mail and get a signature for it so you know that Citi got it. they legally cannot contact you if you do this.
