CIC Credit Monitoring - Experian - Experian Credit Reporting company Kept me from getting housing by stating my SSN doesn't match my birthdate and refuses to correct it! ALLEN, Texas
I applied for an apartment and was told I was being denied do to Experian stating that I am to young to have the Social Security Number I that was issued to me 3 months after I was born. Experian states Social Security claims the number was released between 1972 to 1976. Social Security states it have never told any credit reporting agency an unspecified time frame, in fact Social Security states that it gives the credit reporting agencies the exact date of issue. Mine was issued exactly 3 months after my birth. (Social security office told me that it would have taken about 3 months for the number to be issued if my parents requested the hospital file for them. Which, they did).
Experian is now stating that, "They are trying to correct the problem, but they can't get ahold of Social Security to verify the information, even though the letter I got from Social Security states it is my number." I was also told, "We will try to fix it, but we can't tell you how long it will take."
So, as of now, I will be homeless by the middle of March and all Experian can say, "We will try to fix it when we can." Which translates to me as, "We don't care about you and the mess we put you in." So, I am delaing with it and hopefully will get it resolved.
Oh by the way, I pay for the enrollment of Freecreditreport.com and also for the "triple advantage" and never once did the reports I paid for, ever come back that my social security number did not match my birthdate. I turn 33 on Saturday. Which means, my SSN has been mine for almost 33 years.
Now back to trying to find housing with a complex that does not use experian!!!
