Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I would like to inform or should I say warn people against Circut City & Chase. In December of 2007 I purchased some items under a promotional 0% financing.

My mistake would be that I purchased them on line via the Circut City web-site. Which provided me with a reciept that I had to take to the store to pick up the items with.

I got to the store, it went very smooth...I went to customer service and within 5 minutes I had my items in hand. I asked the clerk at the counter for a formal reciept, as all I had was the confirmation reciept that I printed off the internet. The clerk assured me that, that would be my reciept given any issues with the products I purchased.

Well, here comes the issue. Apparently had I been given a register reciept, it would have listed the "terms & conditions" for the promotional period. My internet reciept did not show the "terms & conditions". (LESSON: demand a reciept from the store)

I recently was out of work for a period of time and as much as I tried to keep my bills up to date. I didn't pay the Chase / Circut City bill for 2 months. (My account is now currently up to date).

I noticed when I recieved my statement for March that my PROMOTIONAL FINANCE CHARGE SUMMARY was missing off the statement. (It had been there on the February statement)

I phoned into the 800-477-6761 customer service line...went thru the automated gabbage which informed me that my account had "NO" promotional programs currently in effect, only to be finally connected to a customer service person who stated that because I missed 2 payments they took away the promotional program.

I asked if the promotion could be reinstated given the circumstances...and I was transfered to a supervisor.

I got "Mrs Johnson" .... I again explained the situation to her about being short on funds. She proceeded to tell me that I should have read the "terms & conditions" on my reciept!

Given the fact I only had an internet reciept...there were no "terms & conditions" on it!! "Mrs Johnson" then put me on hold to review my account. She came back to the phone and stated "the SHE made the decision that to not reinstate the promotional program due to 2 missed payments.

I asked her what gave her the right to make such a strong decision or someone who other wise has had an AWESOME payment record with the company prior to this incident.

She stated HER decision was final and that she would credit me $29.95 for a portion of the finance charges Chase had tacked onto my account. (Chase had hit me with $59.95 in finance charges for 1 month!!)

I explained to her that the store clerk SHOULD HAVE printed out the "terms & conditions" (which I would of had, had I been given a reciept) or verbally explained them to me.

"Mrs Johnson" basically then went into a blah blah blah...there was noone higher than her that I could speak to, however if I chose to call back later, that I may get someone else who may decide differently than she.

Whoa.......you me to tell me it was "un"luck of the draw that I got her and not someone else who may have been more sympathetic to me and my situation???? What kind of a business is that???

She also referred me to a fax number where I could submit a letter for consideration in the reversal of the promotional program being dropped due to 2 missed payments.

MIGHT I ADD THAT LOOKING AT MY MARCH STATEMENT CHASE HAS RAISED MY APR TO 57.40%...I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING.

I wil fax them my written letter, however I see it going absolutely no where.

UPDATE: I phone back to Chase card services and spoke with another supervisor, who was more than accomodating to me. She reviewed my account and came back to me stating that she had issued a credit for the finance charges put to my account. Then advised me that she had "re-instated" my promotional program...due to good history with the company.

Was "Mrs Johnson" just having a bad day? Maybe a power trip???

Please someone tell me why it took 2 phone calls and tons of frustration to get this resolved? As I note, if you don't like what the first person is giving you for an answer. Hang up and call back til you get the right person!!
