Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My husband and I are senior citizens on fixed income.  We engaged Central Maine Moving and Storage to move us from one part of Maine to another part of Maine.  In hindsight, we should have interviewed other companies, but was happy with the moving Coordinator, Dan Leighton - who gave us some free boxes and packing tape.  That FREE moving kit failed to make up for the nightmare of a move.

On November 14, 2016, the driver "Matt" showed up.  He got stuck in a ditch and his crew was just sitting around doing nothing.  This this was an hourly rate move, I told them to come to the house and start tagging items for inventory.  I also called the company to say I would not pay for the driver getting the 52 foot van into a ditch.

It took 1 1/2 days for them to load up.  The crew were decent to talk to.  The driver had a "chip on his shoulder" from the beginning.

On November 16th, they came to deliver.  Here is where the nightmare begins:

1.) They broke a tree limb from a large tree.  When I told the driver to be more careful, he sarcastically replied,  "Tree Trimming is Free."

2.) The crew began urinating on my bushes.  My husband saw this and told them to use the bathroom on the first floor.  They continued to urinate on the bushes.

3.) The driver said the crew was hungry and asked US to go get them pizza.  We refused.  However, my husband make them 20 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  We gave them 1 water bottle or a soda each.  The ungrateful crew, raided our refrigerator, without asking, and drank the rest of the soda and water - leaving nothing for us.

4.)  They broke off a piece of iron on the queen size bed.  The driver, "Matt"  just put the piece in a far corner of a closet and failed to tell us about the broken off piece.

5.) They dropped a hand carved, 4 foot bear on its head and broke off the ears in 9 pieces.  They did not show this to us until it was late in the day and we were all tired.  I recall looking on the floor for the broken pieces.

6.)  Also, they put a glass cabinet in the cargo hold of the truck - a place where they usually store their ladders and tools.  They broke it.  Then, the sneaky driver, told me to sign a piece of paper saying they were not responsible for fiberboard bookcases.  I saw they delivered the bookcases intact, and just signed it.  Later, he changed to to be the glass cabinet they broke.

7.) When I saw the piece was missing, the next day, I called the company.  The people, who work there are either silly friendly or just plain rude.  I was told, by General Manager, Mike Morin, that the piece, along with a ladder and some shelving was SAFE and would be delivered to me in 10 days when, the driver, Matt, was on the road again.

Well, here is what happened:

On November 26th, the driver called about 12:30 PM.  I asked him about the glass cabinet.  His cruel reply was, IT BROKE APART AND WE THREW IT AWAY.

I was very upset and told him YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO THIS.  He said he was coming at 2:30 PM and hung up.  I was looking outside.  When 2:35 PM came around, I saw his truck, but he never stopped.  He just threw the ladder and shelving pieces on the lawn and drove off, leaving up to get them.

Then, he called us after 3:00 PM and I said WHY DID YOU THROW AWAY MY GLASS CABINET, AND WHY DID YOU THROW OUR BELONINGS ON THE GROUND, LIKE DIRT?

He said to me this:

Lady, why don't you check yourself into a mental hospital.  You are crazy!!!

I was livid with rage.  I called this Dan Leighton.  I called Mike Morin.  I even left a message for the owner, Ray Lynch.

Here is the long and the short of it.  Despite all my calls, the owner, Ray Lynch and the General Manager simply do not care about Customer Service.  They claimed that they "TALKED" to this driver, Matt.

I filled out the claim form and claims all this, plus other items they lost or broke.  They just gave my claim over to their

insurance company and I lost $500 in the deductible.  The insurance company was okay to deal with and seemed sympathtic to my plight.

I told them to raise the rates of Central Maine Moving and Storage, since they allowed this to happen in the first place.

In short, we paid almost $5,000 for the move, including insurance - and got badly treated, stressed out, and ripped off int he process.

I would advise all readers of this report, to carefully check out any moving company you hire.  Don't let this happen to you.

Don't be a victim.

Central Maine Moving and Storage in Bangor, Maine - Agents for North American Van Lines - Moving Nightmare Continues 2 1/2 Years Later.

#2Author of original report

Sat, March 02, 2019

I am the author of the Original Report  against Central Maine Moving and Storage in Bangor, Maine.  We have moved before, but NEVER in our experience have we encountered a moving company that is so unprofessional in our entire lives.

In fact, after 2 1/2 years, we still have PTSD (Post Tramatic Stress Disorder) Feelings against this company.  We wish we NEVER gave them our business, and should have carefully checked them out before signing up with them.

In our opinion, Central Maine Moving and Storage - Agents for North American Van Lines gives other moving companies a bad reputation.

We are planning to move to Oregon, and will interview 3 moving companies before making any decision.  We are still haunted by the horrible experience we had with them.

Imagine this, if you will.  We paid almost $5,000 for a local move and were treated badly by the Driver, "Matt", the management, the uncaring staff, and the head company - North American Van Lines - who claimed no responsibility nor interest about our plight.

This is what we got for almost $ 5,000.

Matt - the driver and his crew mishandled our belongings, were careless, broke things, and would not own up to it.  In fact, they tried to blame US for the problems.  Falsely tried to get us to sign our rights away. Matt - Lied about a piece of furniture that he put into the Cargo Hold, instead of on the truck by pretending he just "forgot to deliver it."  Said it would be delivered in two weeks, then, when I called, told me IT BROKE APART AND WE THEW IT AWAY.

Dear Readers:  This driver, Matt, NEVER should have thrown away anything that they broke.  Insurance needs to see the broken items.

When I protested this action, he said to me  LADY, YOU SHOULD CHECK YOURSELF INTO A MENTAL HOSPITAL.  YOU ARE CRAZY.  Then this driver, MATT, hund up on me.

Conversations with the owner went no where.  He said,  I TALKED TO MATT.  and that was all he did.

The salesman, who conned us into signing with them also did not care.  You see, dear readers, the job of a sales agent is to GET YOU TO SIGN UP FOR A MOVE WITH THEIR COMPANY.  After that, they do not care.

Their staff of sloppy movers, Urinated in our Bushes, Raided our Refrigerator.  In fact, the driver, MATT, tried to get us to buy Pizza for his crew.

A word to the wise.  Never offer food, drink or anything other than a bathroom to the movers.  Let them bring their own lunch.  We should have been watching better, but my husband tried to be nice to them, by making sandwiches and look at what it got us.

Aggrivation.  Misery. Loss of Items.  Breakage.  Having to deal with their Insurance Company.  The only enitity who was nice to us, was the Insurance Broker - who in our opinion, felt horrified at what Central Maine Moving and Storage did to us.

In our opinion, we advise anyone out there, to check out their moving company CAREFULLY, before hiring them.  Make sure they have references and a good reputation.

Also, think twice before hiring Central Maine Moving and Storage in Bangor, Maine for your important move.

Please note, that this company failed to offer any solution nor answer to our original negative report.  I guess, they knew we are right, and have no defense.  They never offered to make things right for us.  Never offered any type of appology.

Just handed us off to their indifferent insurance company to deal with.

This is what we got for almost $5,000 of good money.

Signed,

Going to be More Careful in the Future on Trusting any Moving Company with our Upcoming Move to Oregon.
