CCS FIRST NATIONAL CARD ripoffs got me too!
Well, they definitely got me too! When the telemarketer called, I was sure they said "First National Master Card" ... they sweet talked me into giving them my bank account information over the phone, which I let them know I was VERY uncomfortable with, but with all the "transferring to my supervisor" and the voice recordings of the information requests, I reluctantly continued to give them information.
For a person who has had some credit difficulties, and having just applied for a few credit accounts online, I thought it was too good to be true. Here they called me! I didn't even pursue them.
I was being given $6,500 instant credit for a one-time processing fee of $99.00 which was deducted from my checking account on 12/13/01. I was now waiting for my welcome package. Today, I tried to call the numbers that my not-even-professional-looking letter listed to activate the account, there is no answer.
I checked my bank account statement and the $99.00 was definitely deducted from my account with a note in the statement listing a description of "Call800-401-9852 Net 1St 0000011" and no check number referenced. So, of course, I tried to call this number, as well, but a recording said, "We're sorry, but our offices are closed for New Years. Please try your call again, later." GUESS WHAT! IT'S BEEN ALMOST 3 WEEKS SINCE NEW YEARS!!!
I hope that my bank can do something, or that these cyber-crooks are stopped soon! If you have any advice, or suggestions, I am open to any! Good Luck!
