I found carhistory.us.org at the top of a search list for a history check on a vehicle by VIN number. It said free but you have to pay $1 to get the report. Not a problem. Problem is that they double charge you without a second verification method for $18. That charge goes to cardataonline.com. I called and they told me that it is stated in the process. If it is then I need 10000x magnification on my browser because I never saw it. They have promptly issued my refund but how many more will stumble across this sight. I thought I was making a single transaction when in fact 2 transactions took place without my knowledge. The report I recieved didn't even contain an odometer reading from when the vehicle was purchased and titled for the first time. This sight is a scam. They lead you to believe that the car is healthy as can be when in fact, I already know the vehicle had been wrecked previously and the engine has been rebuilt. It has had multiple owners and the report showed that it basically had never been purchased. For intents and purposes, this vehicle only existed as a VIN # in cyberspace when it's sitting in my driveway. I thought I could trust this sight to get a report to back up what I already know. I don't want to see anyone else fall for this. To top things off, I emailed them and told them the report was useless and contained no information including an odometer reading. I included the report # and reference #. This is the exact response I received : 

"I am sorry you didn't receive the Vehicle History Report.

 

Please provide me the VIN # you were searching for.  I will immediately locate the information for you.

Why would I need to give them a VIN again when I gave them the report # and reference #?
