Cardservice International relies on independent representatives to sell their contracts. Home-based businesses, largely small Internet storefronts have been targeted by these independent representatives selling merchant accounts. Small business owners, nave and largely unskilled in business, place their trust in a large American financial corporation which is easily converted in to a sale. Lies and omissions are nicely complimented with verbal assurances from the representative padding commissions by adding business with the customers debit information to the agreement, often after he has left the customers residence.

Initially the vendor believes a mistake has been made when the monthly debits are more than double the amount understood at the signing. After a couple of months of unanswered questions and unreturned phone calls, realization kicks in and the vendor quickly tries to cancel everything after his complaints have been dismissed you signed the contract'. Cardservice International points out that the representative is an independent who simply chooses to sell their service and if misrepresentation was a factor then it is between the vendor and the sales representative. This safely distances Cardservice International from any legal recourse the vendor might have and finding the representative is a very difficult task as is suing and collecting money in small claims.

An inferior, often time's useless product sold with a fantastic price tag. I like most put it down to a lesson learned and tried to walk away, but I couldn't. Another company buried in the sales pitch emerges with a non-cancelable lease. To avoid state usury laws the product is not sold but leased with payments spanning four or six years all contained within an adhesive commercial lease that most people signed in their own living room and others claim never to have seen or signed at all. Third party collection enforcers Leasecomm now demand payment with threats of immediate legal action, which more often than not is pursued with remarkable tenacity. Cardservice International has now distanced itself from collecting payments for a system plagued with inefficiency and software compatibility problems. Returning the equipment or even a software patch does not deter Leasecomm who demand payment in full claiming they financed the amount and problems with the system must be addressed to Cardservice International.

Cardservice International does little or nothing to address the problems of misrepresentation and product deficiency because doing so would affect their bottom line. Efforts to correct product problems are virtually non-existent since the vendor cannot stop payment for inaction. They know what is going on from the sheer volume of complaints against them now posted across the Internet but have structured sales in such a way as to remove themselves from any responsibility in the acts of misrepresentation, usury, deliberate inaction and unconscionable business practices which is doubtless why they feel so comfortable profiting from it all.

Sincerely William J. D.
