Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In Nov. 2007 my wife and I purchased a new Optima from Car Pros. On a Friday evening we stopped by to look at the new Kias. We were talked into filling out a credit application. We told the salesman (Ronald Langley) that we couldn't afford more than $300 to $350 a month payments. He took the application to the credit manager to see what they could do. When he came back, he had a blank application and told us that they had messed up the one we filled out and said to save us from having to fill out another one, he asked us to just sign the blank one and they would copy our information from the original. Big mistake!

It was getting late and they said they were sure they could get us financed. So the said to go ahead and drive the new Optima home for the weekend and they would call us on Monday. The car we left with them was purchased only a few months before and was financed. They called on Monday and said to come in, they had gotten us financed. The Contract said the finance company was Wachovia Dealer, Services. I still have that contract. The big problem was the payments were $614.07. We said we could not afford that much. They said the sale was contingent on them getting us financed.

We couldn't figure how they could get us financed for that big of payment because our total income was only about $2000.00 a month. They assured us that the bank would work with us and get the payments lowered. My wife and I talked about it and told them we could not afford that much. Their response was, we did our part and got you financed and that they had already sold our trade in at their used car lot.

We ended up with a car we couldn't afford, our trade in had already been sold and the finance company on the contract had never heard of us. We were notified later that they got us financed with CitiFinancial Auto in Irvin, Texas. We tried to get them to lower the payments, but after about 7 months we gave up. We got tired of hearing their excuses and putting us off so we told them to come get the car.

We got to thinking about the blank application the salesman had us sign. We contacted Car Pros and asked for a copy since we never received one. The said they didn't have it. Same thing with Citifinancial Auto. We contacted the Washington State Attorney Generals Office for help. He sent a letter to both car Pros and CitiFinancial Auto demanding a copy. Neither one even responded. I also filed a complaint with the BBB. The General Manager at Car Pros basically called me a liar and said they only have to keep credit applications for like 27 months.

That was at the end of 2007 when the sale happened and we gave the car to Citifinacial Auto in the middle of 2008. No collection agency will handle this debt after I show them the documentation that I have, but it is still haunting my credit to this day. I have tried to get it off my credit, but no luck. We know they lied about getting us financed with Wachovia and they falsified our income on that blank credit application. I have all the documents from the beginning of this deal except the credit application.

Watch out if you do business with that Dealer. They are the real example of why you don't trust Car Dealers.

You signed a BLANK credit application.

Where quite frankly it doesn't matter if they have a copy of it still.  As it would show what ever income was put down there with YOUR signature.   All the car dealer has to say was..well they signed it after I already filled it out, so they must have lied to me about their income.

But you didn't stop your stupidity there.  If I read this report right you had previously bought a car 2 months before.  So you were already "upside down" when you decided to trade it in.  Now, there are really only a couple of reasons why you would do something that stupid.  Either you are just that stupid or you couldn't afford those payments either and tried to get a cheaper car.  So if it is the later..do you happen to see a pattern developing?

Just consider yourself lucky that it is only harming your credit. Because when you told the bank to come and get it that was considered a Reposession.  As such the deficency balance from the loan is something you legally owe, and something they could actually have filed suit against you on.  Oh and in a court of law you would loose because your "well I signed a blank contract" argument would last about 30 seconds before the judge ruled against you.

this article has to have been written by the most ignorant buyer.  Why would you sign ANYTHING that's blank?  And then you took the car home?  this car salesman saw you coming a  thousand feet away.  I know you are upset about being stuck with high pymts, but doesn't sound like you're that innocent in all of this.  Take some responsibility in the matter.  You signed a blank app, didn't get a copy of the contract which you should have demanded right then and left your car on the lot and took the new car home.

i I think there are parts of this story you left out.
