I have had two experiences with Capital One credit cards. Both my wife and I have had them. With each, payments sent a week before they are due were not posted until a day past the due date and with each card, they have added late charges that then caused the cards to go overlimit, therefore allowing them to add charges for this too.

On my card, I had a $300 limit, and had paid it down to $125 when my problem began with them, and the next month the limit was OVER $300, which still is a mystery to me. I gave up after paying them several months in a row, and was NEVER below the overlimit amount, all because for some reason, the mail from Georgia to Virginia takes far longer to get there than it does to anywhere else in the nation.

With my wife's card, the same thing happened. Three months in a row, the payment was mailed a week in advance, and yet it mysteriously was late each month, by a day. I have little doubt that the situation is that payments are posted at leisure.

Capital One will not work with you on any of these complaints, they will not return phone calls, and written complaints are ignored.

I've entered disputes in my credit report against this institution, and I advise anyone to do the same.

make sure you certify the last payment because they are notorious for one day late pay the interest

They filed the following Consumer Info. to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: emily Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion Consumer Information: I have had the same problem in the past with companies pulling the late fee, over credit limit etc. What I did was certify mailing the bills. With this I had proof when they recieved the bill and when they played the late fee game you had recourse. You will have to continue doing this until the bill is paid off and canceled, but the three dollars a month is much better than the $50. Make sure you also cancel and get a letter from the company when it's canceled. One other suggestion is when you deal with a company that has promotional payoff, no interest, etc. make sure you certify the last payment because they are notorious for one day late pay the interest.
