I have had a Capital One Auto Finance Loan for a year and a half now. In June of 2002 I was late due to covering the bill up with other papers. Ever since then, a $15.00 late fee has shown up on my monthly statement.

I went through the process of checking to see when the checks cleared, and most of those checks cleared one or two days after the due date indicating that the check was recieved on time. And a couple of those checks actually cleared before the due date, yet, the next months notice had a $15.00 late fee applied to it.

It seems you are never on time with Capital One. This month is a very special month. I made an accounting error and sent the check out to soon causing it to be sent back. I contacted Capital One to see if the check would go through a second time automatically. No the rep said. So I sent ahead and sent a replacement check for the total amount due plus the late fees and the bounced check

fees.

A week later, the original check went through. This month is quite special as Capital One never sent me a billing statement and the bill is due on the 17th. I had been paying extra money every month in order to get at least one payment ahead, this way I would not be late. It seems that they have been thwarting my efforst all along. After seeing this site, when I go into work tomorrow,

I'm going to check and see if Capital One may be a client of ours. If not, I'm going to ask the attorney's if they would like to engage in a nice little class action suite. The attorney's I work for are good, real good:)

Yes in deedibob. I am a bit tired of companies like this ripping me off. How many blasted billions do you need anyhow?

Would anyone like to join me in a nasty little litigiouse fight? Maybe you credit card customers?

Your not going to believe their policy.

I called Capital One Auto Finance today to inquire about the fact that a $15.00 late charge has been on my invoice for the last year. I was told by the coustomer rep, that the $15.00 late fee was carried over to the next billing period because it was not paid. Myself: I informed him that I sent the check with extra money in order to cover the late fee. Customer Rep: He said yes, and that's why your total amount due has been going down every month. You have to send the late fee to A DIFFERENT ADDRESS. Myself: Your kidding I said, what moron set up this policy. Let me get this straight. If I send my late fee along with my check for the payment, the late fee does not get paid, because I have to send it to a different address? Customer rep: That's right he said. You need to send it to a different address which is. Myself: Wait, is that address the one in Texas. Customer rep: Yes. Myself: So if there's a late fee, I don't send it to the california address along with my payment, I send it to the Texas address? Customer rep: Yes he said. Myself: You know, you need to talk to a supervisor or someone because this policy sounds like your company is perposely trying to trip up your custoemr's. So that even when your customer's are doing what they think they should be doing, they aren't doing it because your policies are set up to trip them up. I work for a law firm, and attorney's tell me I should be an attorney. I'm not an attorney so that should tell you something about the way I think. And this policy, realy isn't good for your business. Customer rep: Would you like me to apply the $15.00 dollar fee and take it off your bill? Myself: Yes, I'm ahead anyways. End of phone call. You know, I just looked at the letter they sent me to tell me that they had not recieved my payment. It just tell's me that they need to recieve the payment in the next 5 business days in order to prevent any further collection. You know, the typical form letter that is sent to everyone. The letter does not tell me to send them the payment to the Texas address. Nor does it tell me to send the $15.00 late fee to the Texas address. Does anyone need an aspirin? So as it stands, I will be waiting to see if the late fee is taken off my billing. I called to inform them that I sent my payment overnight on monday and he noted that, so there should be no late fees on the next billing statement. One of the attorney's at the law firm said that he would check out this site and look into the complaints to see if there is a pattern. I however gave him the wrong url so I will email it to him tonight.
