I recieved a First Capital Card (ie. Capital Credit Alliance (C.C.A. Card). I contacted First Capital, and according to the representative there, they have no subsidary company by this name, nor do they endorse this offer. I called the "activation" #. Really the offer sounds good...sort of...You get upto $6500 credit to purchase items from catalogs w/in their list of merchants.

The ad doesn't specify how much you pay up front, but it does tell you this "we'll offset our standard membership fee of $200 by giving you $200 in credit with your first purchase over $300...". Then it reads on..."We'll also give you another $100 in credit with any other purchase over $200 to offset our standard $99 annual fee". Hmmm...I was curious...I called...I came right out and asked, "How much would my membership fee be?"

It took several re-directed answers before I could get the guy to finally admit it was $200. Neither he nor his "supervisor" could tell me how often I had to pay that $200 (ie annually, one time, etc...). I did find out that the annual fee was $99. Other "catches"...You have to provide them with your bank account information & that "legally" obligates them to debit the full amount of your account balance anytime the balance becomes overdue.

Knowing that, I question why they have a transaction fee for paying late of $15. Maybe they tack $15 on when they just debit the full balance, huh? I asked about a website from the 1st guy. Yeah, we have one, but i can only give you the site info if you were a member.

The "supervisor" said they don't even have one. Definately sounds fishy...I would steer clear of this one. You already have one report on them...don't know if you want to add to it, or just do mine as another one.

I have also called our local F.B.I. in Jacksonville ,Fla. and our local police department. They took a report and assured me that the F.B.I. will begin investagating this company. So please call your local police and F.B.I. agency. they will help

We haven't activated anything from your flippen company and you know what? You have debited 1,100 from my fathers account and he is retired and on a fixed income. Now you will feel the rath of whats to come. One I have sent letters to 2 attorney generals offices one in Nevada one in Indiana and also to my attorney and one to the FTC The Federal trade Commission and other organizations. I highly recommend that they not only shut you people down but take you all to jail. In addition i want to add people who have been abused by this company please take the time and send letters to the FTC and the attorney generals office. Their addresses are on the net. I just received the standard letter (and card) from cca. I decided the check the Better Business Bureau and found CCA rating unsatisfactory. I then performed a search on CCA and found this site. thank you thank you to all the earlier respondents. CCA is one company that should be avoided like leprosy. It is obvious that if you do not read thoroghly or do some of your own research on a company..........you will get "burned" Thanks to everyone who has repsonded on this one!

I am one of the unfortunate suckers that got caught up in their scam, they do not tell you about any fees while you are signing up. Well, take that back, they make do kind of tell you about fees, but it is the way in which they word it. They word it so you think you understand what they are saying, but at the same time they go over every little detail of the card so by the time they are done telling you about their fees (which comes after the part where they ask you for your checking account number which is illegal in itself) you think you got it all figured out, but honestly it is a bunch of BS.


I searched several search engines and the only site I found that had anything to do with CCA was the warnings listed on this site.

I have to admit the letter is pretty clear (To Me) that the card is not a Visa/MasterCard/or reputable department store charge card. Yes, it's made out of plastic, it has my name on it, it has the telltale row of numbers that every credit card has, it includes an expiration date like a "normal" credit card, and it has a 1st. First Capital logo emblazed upon the upper right corner. Other than that though, there's nothing printed on the card making me believe its a Visa or MasterCard, but there is also nothing there making me believe that it's not. Possibly printing something on the back of the card, such as: "Not valid at any retailer" or "May only be used in conjunction with CCA's catalog". Although the information was clear to me, there are people in our country and abroad that are not able to comprehend the written language, don't know what to look for, and want to believe they have something they don't really have. Unfortunately, these people fall prey to companies like this one. Much like the prize company (that sells magazines), that was sued several years ago by the elder gentleman who thought he won a million dollars. This man read the information, didn't understand it, and made his way across the US to claim his prize at the company headquarters. He didn't understand what he was reading and wanted to believe, which I am sure many of the CCA victims do. The thing that stuck out the most to me was the fact that the company didn 't have a web address listed anywhere on the form it sent. I thought "let 's look at the items this company sells, check out their pricing, maybe it 's not such a bad thing". No web address. I don't know about you but there is not way in the world I am going to agree to purchasing something I can't see (I would have been purchasing credit from this company). I searched several search engines and the only site I found that had anything to do with CCA was the warnings listed on this site. Now that's sad. What made it worse were the rebuttals posted by the CCA employee. Not only was the person unfocused on what she was writing and wasn't finishing sentences, it was pretty clear to me that she was also totally uneducated and didn't comprehend the English language and/or grammar very well. Maybe she was writing in Ebonics? Hey, maybe she's the one that wrote the form that's sent to customers... he-he-he. A thought that really scares me is this... If she is a representative of the company and has enough authority to respond to rebuttals such as the ones posted on this website, then who is in charge of the finance department for this company? Can they add? It's something everyone should think about. People, please make decisions wisely. Read everything, including the fine print. If it looks confusing, have someone else re-read it, especially if there is money involved. Don't get caught in scams. The old saying "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is" should hold true. That's just my opinion.

Ms thing, obviously the letter is not clear enough and needs to be changed. .. Your advertising mailer is in front of me now. When I look at your advertisement it's obvious that this is a credit card. It might be in the small print somewhere, but I don't see that it is not a store credit card. THe consumer should not have to look that hard. Your underhanded company designed it this way to screw consumers. Your company in my opinion is A RIP-OFF, a fraud and a bunch of dam liars.

Typing in all capital letters is rude and annoying to read. You are annoying, a liar and a fraud as well.

You started to say something about the stockholders? You did't finish? Seems like they are a bunch of crooks to let this happen.

If your company is not going to refund the money for the consumers that filed a Rip-off Report, you can be assured some nationwide free publicity will be coming your way..shortly. If I do not receive an e-mail from your company by Tuesday September 18th to work out the details, we will do what we have to. Consider yourself on notice.
