Capital Acquisition and Management Corp (CAMCO) began calling me in the fall of 2003. They said I owed several hundred dollars on a "Fashion Bug" account from 1987. I explained that in 1988 a police report was filed against my ex-husband and his then girlfriend for using my social security number and forging my name. They were convicted on the most serious charge; forging my name on a tax return and a tax refund. They received a huge fine.

I thought that was the last I would hear from CAMCO, but I was mistaken. In March of 2004 I began receiving calls again. I sent a Cease and Desist letter which did no good. Mr. "Tom O'Neal" called repeatedly, both at home and work, even after I told them not to call me again especially at work. He was threatening, abusive, and at times, obscene. He threatened my credit, even though the age of this debt precludes it from being reported on my credit report.

The thing that scares me most is that he has repeated my social security number when asking for me. Anyone who happens to answer his call, even a wrong number or someone at my job could be given my social security number.

I am going to send a second Cease and Desist letter today by registered mail. I would love to be part of a class action suit. I may also put a block on the phone number 877-298-0845.

Any suggestions you can provide are appreciated.

Contact the Police Again!

#2Consumer Suggestion

If you are being threatened, contact your local police department and file a report, contact the telephone company you have a file a report. I don't know where you are employed, but ask them if one of your superiors can advise this person to stop contacting you at work and advise them that they will file charges if they continue to call. Get a recording device for your telephone. If CAMCO calls again, record the conversation. If it is not legal in your state to record without the other party's consent, advise the caller you are recording. Do a search on this site on CAMCO. There is information on what you can do if they continue to bother you.
