Complaint Review: BRE PROPERTIES - LOS ANGELES California

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! DO NOT LIVE HERE. First of all, I have been a resident here for 2 years. Under the old management, the building was well kept, the staff was super friendly and helpful, maintenance requests were performed in a timely manner, and the quality of tenants was excellent. After Bre Properties took over the whole place took a COMPLETE DIVE. I pay WAY TOO MUCH MONEY to live in a place that is very LOW QUALITY.

The property is DISGUSTING now. There are STAINS and DIRT in all the hallways. The other day, I even found a gigantic puddle of DOG PEE outside my door. The management team is INCREDIBLY RUDE AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE RESIDENTS AT ALL. The elevator is BROKEN at least once every 2 weeks and is always covered in old food, dirt, and dog pee. The new tenants are EXTREMELY LOUD and play music, practice singing, stomp around, and play instruments at all hours of the night.

The management is so incompetent that the other day they put an eviction notice on my door and after reading it I discovered it was for a different apartment. This has happened 2 other days with various other notices.

The front office is supposed to collect the residents’ packages and email you when one arrives. I had been expecting a package from my sister and received an email from the office that one had arrived for me. When I went to pick it up, the office said THEY COULD NOT FIND MY PACKAGE and that it must not have arrived yet even though the automatic email was sent. The package has still not showed up and my sister has an email confirming that it was delivered.  This was the SECOND time this happened. 

A month ago, I came home to find my ENTIRE KITCHEN FLOODED because water was coming up from both sides of my sink. I went to the office to ask for a maintenance person and was told that he wasn’t going to be back for an hour. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. Two hours later, I went back down to the office and they forgot to tell him to come up to my apartment. When he finally came by, he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it and had to come back the next day.

Today was the icing on the cake. I had just come back from a weekend trip only to realize that my husband had my keys, and I couldn’t get into my apartment. It had just turned 6pm, which is when the office closes, and I was happy to discover that I just made it in time to get a spare key to my apartment. There were 3 people in the office and I politely asked if I could quickly borrow the key and return it as soon as I unlocked my door and dropped off my bag. The woman then told me that she didn’t want to give me the key because she was leaving soon and didn’t want to wait for me to give it back to her (even though it would only take me LITERALLY ONE MINUTE to return it). I ended up waiting outside the office in the entrance way until my husband got home to let me in and saw that the woman didn’t leave for 45 MINUTES. In fact, she actually watched me standing there with my arms filled with bags and a suitcase at me feet the ENTIRE TIME. When she finally did leave, she didn’t even say a single word to me and walked right past me and out the door.
