I went to Brakes Plus because they specialize in brakes obviously, My brake light came on recently and my brake pedal was going to the floor, I knew something was wrong. I go to Brakes Plus, they tell me that my right rear brake hose burst and all the fluid drained out of my system. I never heard of a brake line bursting but hey, what do I know???. they say thats the good news, the bad news is my master cylinder has to be replaced. I say why??? the supposed brake technician tells me that I might have gotten contaminants in the master cylinder and he wasnt sure if he just filled it back up with fluid that it would hold up for very long. Funny I never heard of that either but like I said, I know nothing about brakes. the price of the master cylinder was $280.00, then he says he need to flush the system. I never told him to flush my brake system because I had just had my front brakes replaced 2 months before this by the same company at a different location and they flushed my system.

Then comes the news that my wheel cylinders are probably bad becuase of all the fluid that got inside of them from the hose bursting. These wheel cylinders were 2 months old from previuos brake job. I say there under warranty, he says its not there fault my brake hose burst, I told him I wouldnt pay for new opnes, he says we will replace them at no charge (a GOODWILL WARRANTY). Final tally after all is done, $510.00 for a brokern hose and a master cylinder, my front brake job didnt cost that much. I WAS RIPPED OFF and I blame my self for not seeing what this guy was doing to me. I will never go to this place again, I will only go to a dealership for my car. I wish I could get back the money I spent on the master cylinder, im sure the hose didnt burst, maybe it leaked alot, (brake hoses dont burst). BTW, I looked up Master Cylinders at NAPA.com, my model cars master cylinder is only $129.99. boy, did I get a deal or what???? :-(

I went back to them because the original brake job was fine, I didnt have any probelms until the line SUPPOSEDLY burst.I should have come to this site, which I didnt know existed until recently. oh well, chalk it up to inexperience on my part. I wonder how many people go in for the 79.00 special and come out paying $300-$400???? im sure plenty... this is good site, wish I had found it sooner.

Your brake hydraulics have about 3600psi in them when applied. A hole is a hole. When you have a hole, the line(steel) or hose(rubber) needs to be replaced. The rest of what they told you is crap. Replace the line, or hose, bleed the system out(all 4 wheels) and collect the money. I am curious about one thing though. With all the bad print this company gets, what made you decide to give them a second shot at your wallet?
