We are UDI owners at this Bluegreen resort. We bought our timeshare before they acquired it. When they took over, they tried to get us to pay thousands of dollars more to "upgrade" to their points system. We declined. Since then we have had nothing but difficulty in trying to get decent service from them. The latest incident is an example.
We cannot book reservations online because, for some strange reason, even after numerous attempts to get it straight, we cannot log in. The system will not take our information. So we must call for a reservation. We called in August for a fall weekend and they did not have the dates we wanted but told us what waS available. We got a confirmation number for 9/26 - 28. Drove 2 hours to get here only to be told we had no reservation for this weekend - it was for 10/31! We specifically told them on the phone that we could NOT do that weekend.
The people at the resort said "no problem" - we have a cabin for you. Got the keys and went to the cabin only to find that it was already occupied by someone else (yes, we were able to enter with our keys.) Went back and were then told "sorry, you'll have to take a cabin with fewer amenities than your ownership level." We had no choice.
Now this pisses me off because we pay well over $1,000 in maintenance fees and "special assessments" each year. We do not have the option of saying "sorry, you didn't deliver what was promised for our ownership level so I'll just pay less!"
When are timeshare companies like this going to be held accountable? Anyone have any ideas on how we can unite against their shoddy practices? I, for one, am sick and tired of paying through the nose to be treated like garbage.
