Ripoffreport Report ImageThree months after my Blue Haven Pool was completed small cracks started to appear. I contacted Blue Haven imeadiaely after noticing the cracks. They're response was "That is normal, if it doesn't leak don't worry about." I did not know much about pools so I took their word for it.

Three months after noticing the first cracks a much larger crack appeared. This concerned me because this one caused the pool to leak one inch in just one day. I contacted Blue Haven again. This time they told me to perform what they called a "bucket test" The test showed that it was leaking 1 in. a day.

I reported this to Blue Haven and they sent out a woman from a local pool repair company.

She said that she thought that the pool was leaking from the light and that her company would not be able to fix the pool.

I contacted Blue Haven again telling them what the repair place said and they said that they would fix the problem and they would contact us when they were available to do the work. Well winter came and went with no work done because they said they had to wait for the weather to be warmer. In July of 2001 another larger crack appeared. So now I had two large cracks and still no one had come out from the Blue Haven office to even look at the cracks. I contacted them again about the second test. They had me do the bucket test again. This test showed that the pool was still leaking. I told Blue Haven that it was in fact leaking and their response Do not add any more water to the pool. Let it drain so we can see where it is leaking from. I told them that it was probably the two giant cracks in it. (aug. 9 2001)

October 17 2001. Some one from blue have finally came out to fix the cracks. They used what appeared to be caulking. Although the pool does not seem to be leaking anymore it looks hideous. Imagine your two year old with a caulking gun in the bathroom.

Blue Haven Nightmare

#2Consumer Comment

Mon, July 05, 2010

I had a pool built in Oklahoma by Blue Haven. The manager was rude. My pool was to be complete in August. End of October finally complete. It took constant phone calls to get it in that early. A nightmare. They shot my gunite uneven and my skimmer was above the water line. Had to jackhammer my skimmer out of a completed pool. Poured extra concrete for patio,  and payed the concrete contracter on sight, "I got a receipt reluctantly", because Blue Haven office tried to bill me again for the same concrete. Didn't get to use pool at all that year. The pool workers didn't even like management. I have moved since this Nightmare and WILL NOT be putting a Blue Haven pool in.

In response to the time it takes to build the pool; the back of the contract that the homeowner signs when they purchase the pool states that for everyday Blue Haven goes over the time allotted to build the pool, a certain percentage of the price of the pool will be deducted from the total cost. So, unless the saleman is writing 7 months on the front of the contract for time to complete the pool (which why would any smart consumer sign that) these statements are false or Blue Haven is going broke!

I have not had any experience with this company so I can't say anything good or bad but as someone who is looking to have some pool work done in the near future, I now have to exclude this company from a short list of those I would like to give me an estimate of work to be done. I can't afford to have shoddy work done on such a serious asset as my pool and spa. These guys need to respond right away to these reports so others won't exclude them as well.

My pool has been done for close to a year and I've been having a lot of problems. They won't return my calls and they've lied about people coming out to fix the problem.

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING A POOL BUILT BY BLUE HAVEN. SIGNED MY CONTRACT IN MARCH 05. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS TO VOICE MAILS AND MESSAGES THAT ARE NEVER RETURNED. PROMISED TO BE SWIMMING BY END OF MAY. END OF MAY HAS COME AND GONE. BLUE HAVEN SHOULD NOT PROMISE SOMETHING THEY CANNOT DELIVER. ON THEIR FLYER IT STATES "swim in 28 days or blue haven pays". YEAH RIGHT!

Outside Observer I think that the two people who left positive feed back must work for Blue Haven Pools.

I think that the two people who left positive feed back must work for Blue Haven Pools. The 1st guy really seemed defensive in his letter, don't you think? Do you think someone will sign on to this site just to make sure that nobody responds in a negative fashion about the company who built his pool? Get serious guys. You are not fooling anybody. I know of a family who just had a pool built by Blue Haven in Sachse Texas, which is a suburb of Dallas. The pool and Hot Tub that they had built this past summer developed cracks and started to leak. It was months before Blue Haven would even come out an look at the pool. Oh, I'm sorry, they have not come out yet. They have been sending their so called representatives. The pool and Hot Tub are now drained. They have had the pool for less than a year and it is sitting drained with leaks in it. They did come out and patch the Hot Tub. However, they used green instead of the blue that was on it. You can imagine how nice that looks. Now, after 5 months, they have agreed to come out and patch the pool. So very nice of these guys. However, due to the large amounts of water that have leaked out through the bottom of the pool, the ground has now shifted and if they do patch the pool, it is still worthless. The company feels that they are only responsible for the leak. With this said, I immediately told their story to an attourney. Based on his advice, we contacted a structural enginieer to determine if the shifting of the pool was indeed caused by the leak, So far, we have one definate yes. we have decided to get three opinions, just in case. I will update this story as it unfolds. I just want to make sur ethat people think before they use Blue Haven Pools. Fear not people! The inadequate work and lack of quality customer service that seems to be characteristic of Blue Haven Pools will soon be known far and wide. As it happens, I work for a local TV station in Dallas and am going to hand deliver the story to the consumer protection reporter in our news department. This will make a great story and nobody will be able to say that the pictures do not look real. Sorry guys - It's time to pay the price.

We signed our contract in June of 2004 to have our pool build. Our salesman, technically called the Design Consultant was very nice. He told us that it would take about 3 months at the MOST and our pool would probably be done sooner, but they have to say 3 months to cover themselves.

Well, it is NOW JANUARY 2005 and our pool is not complete. I have NO IDEA of any timeline at this point and when Blule Haven is planning to complete this project.

The Construction Manager in the office is very rude and avoids our phone calls. One time, she actually answered her phone when I called, only to put me on hold for sometime and then have someone else in her office pick up the line and say that she was unavailable and she would call me back. She DID NOT call me back.

The manager above her avoids our phone calls as well. People in the office lie and say he is not there when is actually is. I know this to be true, because once when I called and was told he wasn't there, another person I know called 2 minutes after me and spoke to him.

Then when I called back I was told AGAIN that he wasn't there. I told them of the situation and that I knew he was there. Jerry eventually got on the phone.

What kind of business is this. I truly wish that I had read these complaints BEFORE contracting with Blue Haven, I would have definately searched out another pool company.

It has been more than 7 months since we signed the contract and asked them to start right away. I was told 3 months top... well, I am still waiting.

The pool shown is not a 3 year old pool .This pool shows signs of aging and plaster staining by the result of complete neglect over an estimated time span of 15 to 20 years.(If not more)!!!

If you really believe this complaint to be true ...than you will believe anything. Just another cheap shot at Americas #1 Pool Builder.

I have to disagree with your submission. In early July of 02, my wife and I decided to install a pool at our home. From the first day that their representative, Valerie Castleberry, showed up she was courteous, insightful and even informative about pitfalls that can occur, suggestions for maximizing the size and design of our pool to accentuate our home and how to go about taking advantage of the over all design of our pool.

Their site manager, Scott Allen, (I remember their names so well because just yesterday I wrote a letter of praise to their headquarters) was very informative and kept a great line of communication to let me know what to expect next.

If you are getting cracks in your pool, my feeling is that you probably did not follow the instructions that are plainly laid out and part of your contract which is to water the gunite twice a day for seven days after they pour.

In my experience that we have had with Blue Haven, I couldn't disagree with you more and furthermore from what I have seen in their customer service to date I would be hard pressed to believe that they simply blew you off the way you describe.

Sorry, your story (like your pool) just doesn't hold water...
