My trailer is between 23-26 footsteps long and 7-9 footsteps wide. ( measured inside) I 've been renting it for three years now. Up until four months ago, my electricity bill ran me about $17.00-$30.00 a month , or between 111-200 kw a month. There were a few, sporadic months, during this span, that had a kw usage of 300 or better, for no good reason. The next month's bill would go back down, so I didnt get to excited about it. I have every bill, for every month, of every year that I have lived here. About four months ago, my bill was $60.00. Thats double the amount. The following month my bill was $99.00. I was on the second tier over baseline ( 131% - 200% baseline ) my bill has yet to go down since. My gas and electricity bill is part of my rent. I have my own meter for both of them and the billing is thru a company called Yes Energy Management 4715 viewridge ave San Diego. Ca 92123. All the billing appears correct. The only discrepancy I can find in this area is that we are under delivery service D, rather than a mobilehome park, RV park, or the such. Feeling my problem wasn't solved, I turned my efforts elsewhere My first thought was too see what my kw usage was every hour ( i have a detailed monthly log ) due to the fact that in the six days in between the landlord reading the meter, and my getting the bill, I had allready used 144 Kw. So, I did that for a couple of hours. The neighbors meter is located right next to mine so I started watching her meter, for comparison. Noticing her meter wasn't spinning as fast as mine, I began keeping an hourly log of her meter also. They have washer and dryer hook-up. I do not. I can hear her machines running, yet my dial is spinning the fastest. I then decided to turn off my breakers and checked the two meters. Hers wasn't moving, as well as mine. I turned the breakers back on , hers started moving. Back off, hers stopped. I left them off and went to inform the landlord. He said he would call his brother to come handle the situation. It was my intention to stand in front of those meters untill the brother arrived. I lasted about 15 minutes before my coffee kicked in and I had to leave my post. Of course, while I was gone, he arrived and now her meter is moving ....a little bit , says he. I have no idea what mine was doing. So what the brother did was replace both of our meters. Had two of them right in the van. He commented that he was certified to do so. Didnt solve my problem Next months bill is $90. One night,I turned off my breakers and went outside to check our meters. Hers was still going the same and so was mine , but slowly. It would make a revolution in a little over a minute (I didnt time it ) Leaving it off, I went to inform the landlord. He comes over to the meters and under both the meters, is a box. He opens mine and flips two more breakers that I didn't know where there ( 4 inside 2 outside. ) when he does so, lights next door appear to off and on. He flips.my breakers off and on twice in a row,and lights next door appear to do the same. Im ready to call the police. HE decides , we didnt see the NEIGHBORS lights going off and on, but instead, it was a reflection from the pole that lights up the common area. I don't share his vision. I believe it's both So, I said, what you're telling me is, it's not them who's stealing electricity, it's you?? Oh, he says, it's not stealing, it's just a little bit. Hardly nothing too run that light. We went round and round, but nicely, and getting nowhere, I wanted to get to. He kept saying he would talk with his brother (??) and see about compensating me for the pole being on my grid, something fair he said. I didnt believe him After he left ( with the pole still lit ) I went back to the meter and flipped each breaker individually, turns out, the one outside breaker , has nothing to do with my actual needs, just that pole ( as far as I know) so ,I turned it off and it has stayed off. So ,since I discovered one outside breaker was useless to me, I went inside and tested the usefullness of the four breakers inside the trailer. Turns out, only one of those four, are my usage. Those also, now remain off. Out of six breakers, i only use two. It took the landlord a couple of days to notice the light off and he said how is that light off ? I replied, i turned the breaker off. He says " you dont need it ?" I guess not,I said. Rather than argue with you about whats fair, lets just turn it off and see what the bill is. He was mad and pretty sure it wasnt going to go down ( my bill) It has not gone down and my meter still turns with all six breakers off and every single thing unplugged. He doesn't seem worried when i mentioned the police I have recently discovered a smart meter, which I suspect is the main meter due to the fact that it's located next to the main gas meter that was recently updated. So thats my story. Sure hope you'll come and save the day. Im not the only tenant with ridiculous electric bills quite a few of us hit the second tier over baseline in this park. On ladys meter , hes locked the lid that covers her meter so she cant even look at her meter. Not to mention those empty trailers that have meters whos dials spin as if there were three electric dryers all running at the same time
