Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
First of all allow me to say I am not a disgruntled employee. I am a current employee in good standing with BCTI. I am one of BCTI's management/leaders. This company's business practices are appalling as well as immoral. Yet the company's upper management and owners CLAIM to be Christians. BCTI promotes itself to prospective students to help them change their lives. That statement couldn't be further from the truth. We target individuals when they are at the lowest point of their lives.

Stand outside any DSHS building and you'll see one of our reps peddling our school to disadvantaged welfare recipes, individuals with learning disabilities and/or emotional disabilities, as well as the numerous unemployed. This comprises a majority of each of the 8 campuses student population. BCTI sells a dream of higher education to become more employable in today's job market. BCTI's skill based training is incredibly expensive and does NOT meet the needs of today's job market.

If we offered affordable schooling to the disadvantaged I would feel comfortable with what I do on a daily basis. Unfortunately a vast majority of students incur a loan of more than $7,000 for the 1st 7 and 1 half months and a total of more than $15,000 for the 15 month training program to attend BCTI. Clover Park, Bates Technical, Tacoma Community College, Pierce College, and even the Video Professor CD-ROMs have better training for considerably less money.

BCTI sells an advanced training program called Phase II. Phase II teaches students how to build computers, network computers, and to design web sites. Strangely no prospective student can enter directly into Phase II. A student must attend Phase I first (the beginning level of computer technology). NO MATTER WHAT THEIR COMPUTER QUALIFICATIONS ARE. This allows our company to saddle a student with a total of more than $15,000 dollars in debt.

This advanced training is unlike Clover Park, Bates Technical, Go2Cert, or Powertech. After graduating from Phase II, NO STUDENTS of BCTI are qualified to obtain ANY of the Information Technology certifications. Without certifications it becomes close to impossible for an advanced training student to obtain a position in the I.T. field.

Although some students successfully gain quality employment, they are the exceptions rather than the rule. A VAST majority of graduates either remain unemployed, employed in the same job they had when they enrolled, or become employed at lower than the national average of salaries. A majority of students who graduate will NEVER have the ability to pay their sizeable student loans.

As a leader I have seen numerous students graduate without skills necessary to meet the needs of today's employers. Yet meeting the needs of today's employers is a line in BCTI's mission statement. I have seen students graduate without the simplest of computer skills, such as setting up Yahoo or Hotmail email accounts, navigating in the Microsoft Windows environment, and writing/typing a simple concise business letter.

Additionally I am appalled by BCTI's treatment of it's staff. I am one of the top performers. The treatment I receive is more than adequate and I feel fortunate. Unfortunately I have seen individuals who attend the same church as the owners, receive preferential treatment above all others. I have witnessed individuals who should have been terminated due to performance yet they have been allowed to retain their positions because they attend church with the owners. Others who do not attend the church have been terminated for the same or simular reasons. Many ex BCTI employees and alumni students have potential lawsuits due to the above reason.

As for me I will resign my position in the near future. I can no longer stomach a company who takes advantage of the disadvantaged and gives preferential treatment to staff who attend a certain church. The newspapers and media will hear more of this story.
