First of all let me start with this, my quit was voluntary and on excellent terms. On one quarterly review for customer service I was recognized by the company for excellent customer service 110/110.

Lets talk labor practices. Food costs for a grocery chain is the same for all the stores they own. They sell their product for all the same price, no matter what store it is, unless you work at a higer end store like A.J.'s or Ikes, then they will try and stick it to you and you will pay a bit more for the same product. Lets go backwards now. Food City' are the lower end stores catering to mostly hispanics.

They also mainly hire hispanic people to work the store who barely speak english and really don't know any better as far as fair labor laws. Food city makes as much per item on a national brand as Basha's but Basha's feels the employee's are less worthy. They make 2-3 dollar less an hour then other employees that work for the other stores. I'm not going to go into to much detail but I'll touch on a few more things.

They claim they have great benefits and match or are better then a union contract. I researched it by going to a local Safeway and talking to a few employees about benefits and labor, by far theirs was a lot better. Bashas' told us they had a benefits meeting they needed us to attend.... Turns out, it had nothing to do with benefits and was just union bashing and scare tacticts why not to join, especially undertones that if anyone signs, they might as well apply at Safeway or Frys.

Lots of sexual "harrassment" or "friendly" touches going on. If you piss of a department head in anyway, you might as well start looking for another job, because they are good at cutting hours down to 5 a week. I've seen it happen to a few really good people. Oh, by the way, their is a man named Lorenzo who is a produce manager at the Dove Mountain store in Tucson who is great example of why people are afraid of their jobs. He was a very hateful man, on the surface to make a sale, he was a suck upbut behind the scenes he is trully hateful. If you only knew what he thought of the customer.

What else do wee have? Oh, lets not forget cleanliness and the health factor! I also worked in the meat department and wow, if you only knew what you are feeding your children! Lets see, repacked outdated hamburger meat with a dab of red food coloring for freshnes, or to look fresh. Rewrapped and redated goods. Sea food? I hope you have good insurance. I was called in at midnight one night to clean the sea food case and reset it fresh, because they caught wind the health department was coming the next morning because of a complaint. Some of the shrimp and fish where rotten!

Common now, I heard Bashas' has some great sales on hamburger meat, who wants to have a BBQ?!

Read other reports about this company, they are completely unprofessional. The U.S. Department of Labor found them guilty of violating labor laws. http://www.azstarnet.com/business/206678 HaHa, Busted! Gee, why don't unions come in? They are chased out and trespassed. Eddie Basha, SHAME on you! All other employees like Assistant manager Diane Flemming of the Marana, Thornydale/Cortaro store who are fueled up on huge power trips but with no more promotions to go, you should really think of humbling yourself! Oh, and this doesn't let the Manager Mr. R.W. of the Dove Mountain store off the hook. I think your a great guy but you need to stop playing the politician and start doing the right thing. Stop turning a blind eye to the wrong doing your managers do. if you only knew what the employees thought. You are the boss though and hold their strings, they will never tell you what they think, only what you want to hear. They know talking with you will not get a problem soved..... I'm sure by now you all have figured out who this is, but from my experience, bashas' isn't known for hiring the brightest employees, just a bunch of YES people. So maybe you haven't figured it out!
