Barclay Career School MISINFORMED an TRICKED about the loan that was given Houston Texas
This has been a total nightmare for me. Was trying to better my life. Didn't have a career and was seeking to attend school to try to get a career. Went to Barclay Career School downtown on Fannin Street. I remember like it was yesterday. I was offered a loan that I asked would I have to pay back because I thinking long term, "what if I can't find a job in this field."
The recruiter assured me I would me I would not have to pay it back. Being misinformed about paying the loan back I willing signed the papers given. Well, little did I know 20 years later this loan has followed me haunting me, income taxes garnished, filed on my credit report dropping my score. The loan has passed from one collector to another.
I tried to start paying the loan because I saw it would not away. The interest is compiling an I don't know what to do. Now someone else has picked up the loan Fedloan an they keep putting it on my credit report and it is killing my credit. If I had of known 20 years later this would have turned out this way. I would have never even looked in their direction. Can anyone HELP I know I'm not the only one dealing with this nightmare.

The recruiter assured me I would me I would not have to pay it back. Being misinformed about paying the loan back I willing signed the papers. Do you understand what a loan is? A loan - by definition - must be paid back. If you were provided a "grant" for your schooling, then a "grant" is generally an amount you do not have to give back. Could you have received a grant for your schooling? Perhaps - if you had gone to a public school, your chances of receving at least one would have been good. A private school like this one - less so.
Your basic lack of understanding of this situation is not helping you, nor does it excuse you from repayment. Whenever you hear the word "loan" it means the money isn't free. If you hear the word GRANT in association with money, then generally it is free.
Can anyone HELP I know I'm not the only one dealing with this nightmare. I am sure there are others, but there is little that can be done at this point. You may need to contact a lawyer to give you some advice on how to proceed. Make sure you have all of the paperwork associated with your loan; if you no longer have it, then you need to get it.
