Bank United Ripped us off -almost lost our home-cost us time and money. Houston Texas
We live near Atlanta, GA. and our mortgage had been sold to Bank United. We really didn't like dealing with them via mail and phone. We were suspicious from the beginning.
Our worst nightmare came true when I developed massive and life threatening health problems. We contacted Bank United and explained what was happening and that we were might have problems making the payments but we would call them and work with them to get it to them. They indicated they would work with us as long as we kept them informed as to what was happening.
The time came when we had to miss a payment. Well all hell broke loose. They started tacking on massive late fees, began to send us foreclosure notices and just being very rude and unfriendly. We began to try to work things out with them and supposedly the mortgage was put on hold and sent to the workout department. We then received another foreclosure notice. When contacted they told us we would have to send them a very large sum of money to bring things current. We worked really hard to come up with the money (meanwhile this was adding to my health problems)and sent it to them. We immediately received another foreclosure notice. When we contacted them they said the "investors" had decided to call in our loan. Since it appeared they would foreclose anyway we asked for our money back - they flatly and vehemently said NO.
Every time we contacted them (which at times was almost impossible) no one seemed to know what the other departments and people were doing or had told us. Every department seemed to tell us something different.
Since it appeared they were going to foreclose, no matter what we did to try to remedy the situation, we began to try to find a bank (locally) that would take our mortgage. We found a very wonderful bank (they were friendly and accomodating - imagine that) who appreciated that we wanted to business with them and they could help us. As the paperwork progressed we found it very difficult to get Bank United to send us the paperwork needed to get this new mortgage in place. It seemed as though they were determined to cause us to loose our home no matter what we did.
As a result my health problems were made worse, I became very depressed, and then suicidal. This was tearing our family to pieces.
We finally got the new mortgage in place and are extremely happy with the bank we are with now.
Bank United is staffed with unfeeling, uncaring, lying, immoral people set to destroy your life at the drop of a hat.
This bank should be wiped out of existence and all its people prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
