I have managed to consolidate all my credit cards into two debts: my 0% credit card for 15 months and my 2nd at 5.5% (the rate has actually gone down). I paid $490 in interest for the last 90 days compared to $1630 for the previous quarter. Needless to say -- I am a much happier camper. I am working on eliminating all my debt, including my 1st and 2nd mortgages. The trick is to NOT USE CREDIT CARDS!!! Don't let the banks suck you into their traps and snares. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! READ THE FINE PRINT and DON"T BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE TOLD OVER THE PHONE!!!

Way to go John, just wanted to say "Good Luck" on wanting to get to debt free'dom, as I say. I paid off all my credit cards and my husband and I have a business we opened and have operated it debt free. People say things to me well " I could not do that because I have to use debt". Well I disagree! There isnothing that you need bad enough to buy that is worth the emotional toll that using debt brings. If it was so wonderful why would there be so many complaints over interest rates going up? If debt was so wonderful it wouldn't matter, would it? It isn't until rates creep up that people begin to wake up out of the fog that they have been in for years and say "enough"! I have been through more tough times than most will ever be through. I have had 45 major surgeries and so you can imagine the debt I have had to deal with. I have a husband who has not given up and has worked two jobs over twenty plus years of marriage to help us change our lives and stop the debt. We got on "Dave Ramsey's" plan and that kicked started our way to stop the debt and to change our attitudes that about debt. I pay cash or I do not buy it and that is an awesome feeling. I drive an '06 suv which is paid off. Not because I am rich, but because I save up and know that paying payments on a car is a stupid way of life. Now my husband and I are saving every month, where we could have never saved. So, I wanted to say I am glad you are heading to debt free and I hope to read an update someday here and find out that you have made it! Warmly, Cat
