Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My complaint is that I spent over $250 dollars to have a "resume writer" actually redo my resume.  I sent my original resume and instead received a jumbal of information that in no way resembled the accurate dates, had multiple errors, and the resume was not chronological.  As an example to my complainaint of how they responded to the confusing chronology, of having  the middle of my career  at the end of the resume or the end in the beginning  so it was not even chronological!

Resume Writers Wrote   -- This was done to be a partially FUNCTIONAL rather than chronological resume but again, happy--to revise it as this is the DRAFT we agreed to send you for revision.

This response is illogical because all my positions have the same function, and to do this much “revision” beggars the question if I would actually need them.

Another example is when I complained that the dates were all wrong.

Resume Writers Wrote   -- The dates appear to reflect the information you provided to us but we're happy to revise them; Just let us know the correct dates!

Which is a lie because I gave them a resume I had used for years.    So they could not have proofread the resume.  The obvious conclusion to “appear to reflect”  is a good example of the prevarication of their answers.  I was able to know the real dates from the original resume I sent them.  Furthermore, it should be noted, that to appease the Better Business Bureau they sent another version of the resume with mostly correct dates, so they must have had the correct info from my submittal all along since I sent them no new information!!

They claim to have had only one complaint out of 1000.  Which given the subjectivity of a resume writing service is hardly believable.  So I do not think they are honest about their service.

They claim I signed a Terms of Agreement, in other words “fine print”.  I may have in just paying for the thing via the internet on a credit card.  But it is in direct contradiction to the big letters upfront on the template for the service.

This is from there website:

If you're not working within 45 days of receiving your new resume, we'll revise it, refund your money, AND pay you an extra $100* -- Now THAT'S confidence!

Whether you need an entry-level resume to appeal to a prospective employer, a career change resume to transition into your new profession, an advanced executive-level document, or even a Government/ Federal resume and/or KSA responses, our full-time staff if experienced resume specialists is available 7 days a week to help YOU get EMPLOYED in the capacity YOU want...  > Click Here To Get Started !  END

Everything other than the hidden caveats gives a none contestable agreement.  Then when you try to use what the website says, such as being able to speak to someone, the service says that I should have paid extra for that.  But all the information to draw one into purchasing the service is littered with words that guarantee things that the small print and particulars negate what the front page says.

The reason,  I believe I deserve a complete refund is because I did not get a useable resume, they obviously did not proof read it, and was so much in error, I had to start from scratch.  It would have taken almost as much time as correcting them.  I believe almost no human actually wrote the resume unless they were having a stroke at the time of its creation, and I feel they have software program to the actual “writing”.  They could not be reached by phone, (they say that is extra, to have my phone calls answered) and it was taking so long to get a response I gave up and complained to the BBB.

I believe that mistakes are made, so if the client catches small errors that slip by, it is ok.  But when the resume in no way resembling the information given by the client and is rife with errors, the original professionalism of the service is null and therefore of deceptive value. What I purchased was a service to perfect or improve on my original resume which I gave them.  They did not do that and communicating with them was too difficult, time is a factor.

I have included my correspondences with the BBB below.

Consumer's Original Complaint :

A resume service, that can not be reached by phone, has no personal interaction except via email responses days later is not keeping to expectations

The website lists many things, one of which that it has an "A Plus" rating from the BBB.  This helped make my decision to go into business with them.  This service claimed to create a custom resume with professional resume writers.  The resume I received was inaccurate and did not fit my idea of a professional Resume.  I tried to call Resume Service and left messages but no one called to resolve these issues.  WE excahanged many emails but nothing happens, it just goes around and around.  I think this deliberate because they do not expect anyone to complain and just accept whatever is given over as a resume.  I have made numerous attempts to have reach them but there is no live person to help.  In the end this is a resume service that puts every resume in a blender and gives out the same thing.  They eventually wanted me to tell them every little detail that I wanted changed but that is not a resume service but typists. They have not made any personal attempt at reaching me except obscure emails.  I have asked for a refund but they have not responded.  And i have a hard time believing that with 12 complaints against them on your site, that they really have a A + rating.  If they do not then they are also being misleading.

Consumer's Desired Resolution:

I want my money back.  The product they provided is inaccurate and would take more time to correct then to start from scratch.

11/25/2018          WEB   BBB     RECEIVE BUSINESS RESPONSE : We're very sorry but no refund can be issued. As you are aware, you did not purchase a product but rather, a highly customized service involving a great deal of labor. At your request, multiple individuals worked to prepare a new resume on your behalf. At the time of order, you agreed to our clearly posted "no refund" terms. We invited you to comment and to request any revisions at no additional charge. I do see you simply asked "How is this new resume an improvement over my old one?" and we took the time to draft an outline demonstrating the core improvements and still inviting you to request any changes. At this point, you have requested no changes and the work has been completed. As advertised, our work is primarily done online. Our 1-2 day response time is generally considered to be very fast for an online business and we do pride ourselves in answering every question asked. We DO have an option to purchase a 30 minute telephone coaching consultation but I see you declined to have that --opting for our online service instead.

Re: your question about our A rating-- We service more than 8,000 clients per year and have fewer than 1 issue like this per 1,000 clients!

We definitely want you to be happy (and to get the job you dream of!)-- and remain available to revise your new resume to your satisfaction. Simply login to your account and let us know what you would like changed --and it will still be done at no additional charge.

As considerable time has been put in at your request already, no refund will be issued.

11/26/2018          WEB   BBB     BBB REVIEWS CONSUMER REBUTTAL TO BUSINESS RESPONSE : (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

This business claims on its website and I quote "

                        employmentwinners.Com is ABSOLUTELY the HIGHEST

quality and most competitively priced resume writing service on Earth!"

Presumption of all resume services is some degree of effort and accuracy, especially from the best resume writers on planet earth.  It does NoT have to be perfect but it has to be reasonably accurate.

The resume sent to me is riddled by errors that would require the time sought to be avoided by hiring a resume service. That is why I wanted the best resume writers on earth, LOL!

Nevertheless, among the OBVIOUS errors are signs that no care was taken with the creation of this resume.  Examples of that lack of care are:

                        1. inconsistent punctuation

                        2. The dates were all wrong

                        3. The dates were not month and year which is standard for most resumes

                        4. The description of the positions held were absent on one job listing

                        5. The middle of my career was at the end of the resume so it was not even chronological!

                        6. No effort was made to establish accuracy or verify information.  This is particularly cogent since I provided a previous resume and the only thing the service had to do was put it into a new format.  I do not believe a human could have made these errors unless they were either farsighted or was undergoing a stroke.  I suspect that the real work was done by software and no one cared enough to check the work.

*They claim to guarantee that if a job has not been found in 45 days I would get a full refund but they have not stated that in any correspondence though I did remind them.

                        * They claim a Triple A Rating from the BBB.  I was one of the reasons I bought.  It does not look true based on my research on this site.

I have used resume writing before, and never Not spoken to a live person at least once.  NO WHERE IS IT APPARANT that this is done solely by email.  I am sure it is somewhere, but I can not find it, and it is unreasonable that such an important fact is not obvious.  The advertisements are misleading.

It is not reasonable for me to rewrite the resume, then send it back to them because there were so many errors that I would be writing the resume and paying them for the privilege.

11/27/2018          WEB   BBB     RECEIVED BUSINESS' REBUTTAL RESPONSE : Thanks for your follow-up. I'm glad you're telling us what you like/don't like as this is an integral part of the resume writing process and you hadn't mentioned any of this before. We've responded to each of your concerns below. As before, the most we can do is revise our work for you...which is what you agreed to in our online contract.

(Responses are below each numbered point)...

                        "1. inconsistent punctuation"

I've personally reviewed the document and I do not see any glaring, inconsistent punctuation. Please point out 2-3 examples and we'll let you know if they're in there for a good reason or-- as is our duty, we'll revise them right away.

                        2. The dates were all wrong

The dates appear to reflect the information you provided to us but we're happy to revise them; Just let us know the correct dates!

                        3. The dates were not month and year which is standard for most resumes

For an executive resume, either way works--but yes, we're happy to re-include the months in a revision.

                        4. The description of the positions held were absent on one job listing

We've included all 6 jobs and strategically planned bullet points below each. All tie into your objective and were made to be ATS-compliant -- a vast improvement over your original resume. If there is something you feel we omitted that should be included, let us know so we can explain our rationale for omission and/or review.

                        5. The middle of my career was at the end of the resume so it was not even chronological!

-- This was done to be a partially FUNCTIONAL rather than chronological resume but again, happy--to revise it as this is the DRAFT we agreed to send you for revision.

I suspect that the real work was done by software and no one cared enough to check the work.

Again, we do not "verify" the information as YOU were the provider of the info and you did not request the telephone consultation option! Our agreement is to review what you sent us and put time into improving it. We then send you a rough draft... You then make comments (similar to those you've made now)--and then we proceed to revise.

*They claim to guarantee that if a job has not been found in 45 days I would get a full refund but they have not stated that in any correspondence though I did remind them.

-- Email us receipts for the 40 copies snail mailed or faxed, please.

                        * They claim a Triple A Rating from the BBB. I was one of the reasons I bought. It does not look true based on my research on this site.

It's actually an A+ at this time.

I provided the company with my own resume that I have been using for 3 years and I have not provided them additional information, yet, this version is much more accurate than the first copy.  So my belief is that this company did not make an attempt in good faith.  Furthermore, I want it to understand if this company actually has a Triple A + rating as their website has indicated.  And I want to know how I can apply for the guarantee that they also indicate in their website.
