AVIS Rent a Car Laguna Hills CA This company alleges that they are Independently Owned and Operated by IMAN International. This is an UPDATE to my last report of 5/28/2012. Refused to Honor 25% off per day rental rate discount (gave only 5%) and wouldn't honor current Promotional Rate. Lake Forest, California
AVIS states it is a Choice Hotels Partner, and as such offers Promotional Rate programs from time to time. Choice Hotels also gives you Choice Hotel Points on such Promotions. AVIS' local owners however feel they can totally ignore these Nationally Advertised Promotions and do whatever they want, including charge whatever they wan and they claim they are NOT bound by the AVIS National Policies.
The Current Promotion Advertised is 25% off per day if you rent over 5 days consecutively. I rented a Full Size car for 2 weeks. Clearly I had met the 5+ consecutive days requirement, yet the local AVIS rental agent refused to honor this - after agreeing to do so when I first picked up the car and when I discussed renewal rates with him (which he also misquoted and refused later to honor when it came time to pay). Instead he said it was "up to the local Agency" to determine how much of the 25% they wanted to honor - in other words- the AVIS National Policy Advertisement is pure BUNK, as the local Agency's refuse to honor it.
In addition - there is a second Promotional Event going on through the period I rented this car (Through June 15th 2012) (I rented my car from May 21, 2012 through June 4th 2012) and which led me to rent from AVIS in the first place. That Promotion states that AVIS will grant you a free weekend day if you rent consecutively for 3 days. I also met that requirement (in my 2nd week of rental) , but despite the local AVIS Agency's agreement by phone when I extended my rental for the second week, they refused to honor it when I came in to drop off the car (after spending $21.00 getting it washed and detailed inside based on what I THOUGHT was our agreements on these discounts- which when I went to pay - I basically was told I was LYING and that they never said any such thing. So - in addition to lying about the Rate - which I was told - with my discounts would be $297.86 total, I was charged $391.86 instead. THIS IS A TOTAL FRAUD and it is obvious that INMAN International that runs this particular branch Agency of AVIS refuses to honor the agreed on prices, refuses to participate honestly in anything they feel cuts into their profits that the National AVIS Partners with Choice Hotels Inc offers, and offers very bad customer service (if you can call it that).
I would NEVER rent from these people again.
