The telephone companies are ripping off the American public.

This should be no surprise to anyone because the old Bell System hid its actual costs from the FCC and State Public Utilities for decades by cooking its books.  It's cost accounting was so bad that Ma Bell finally had to "introduce innovative functional accounting practices" so that it could come close to estimating its own true costs just to manage its own bureaucracy.  Even before its divestiture into AT&T, Lucent, and the band of thieves, the phone companies became extensions of the Federal Government accommodating every form of social change to the detriment of consumers and employees by ignoring good performance in its internal hiring, performance review, and promotion policies.  One former AT&T female executive, promoted within AT&T largely because she was a female, became CEO of Hewlett Packard and nearly drove HP into oblivion because she was accustomed to playing the game of pleasing her superiors and spent all her time preparing power point slides for members of the HP board of directors.  After being encouraged to depart HP, she now wants to use her "management expertise" as an elected official for the State of California.  That would be a ripoff to the unsuspecting few remaining conservative voters in California.

Now the telephone companies are helping our progressive federal government provide free cell phones (but not for free or even at cost to taxpayers) and free cell phone service (here again not free or even at cost to taxpayers) to the "poor" (i.e., those who are willing to vote for the candidate closest to being qualified as a communist or socialist).

Telephone company contributions and lobbyists have helped to override any law or regulation that would limit the number of undesirable calls from telemarketers because telemarketing is a not insignificant source of income to telephone companies.

I wish that this kind of behavior were unique to telecommunications corporations.  I wish that we could take back America from progressive, or just plain crooked, politicians, civil servants, lawyers, and judges.

The ultimate telephone company rip offs

#2Author of original report

Examination of other reported telephone company rip offs reveal that the telephone companies:

  • fail to maintain their network infrastructures,
  • fail to follow through on their promises to upgrade their networks,
  • provide poor quality telephone and data services,
  • provide poor quality customer service,
  • fail to honor their end of terms of agreements,
  • use fraudulent billing practices,
  • advertise misleading promotions,
  • hide service and installation fees,
  • bundle services to hide their true costs,
  • install costly cell phone apps,
  • illegally share private customer data,
  • overbill when given access to checking accounts for billing.

A far worse, if not the worst, rip off by telephone company executives and electronic device executives, is their obstruction of the enactment and enforcement of distracted driving laws.  Distracted driving laws restrict the use of hand held cell phones or other smart devices to talk, text, search, or focus on anything other than safety while driving.  Telephone company executives and their lobbyists oppose those laws because a significant amount of their revenue comes from people who use cell phones and smart devices while driving.

The telephone companies give large campaign contributions to the politicians of both parties running in federal and state elections but they spend more on progressives candidates.  What do telephone company executives have in common with progressive politicians?  Both telephone company executives and progressive government administrators and politicians support poor service, practice fraud, and lie with impunity.  But the most important similarity between company executives and progressive government administrators and politicians is their desire to control every aspect of public life for their own private benefit.  Primarily, they want to control the assets of all their fellow citizens.  First, however, they must gain control of the choices available to their fellow citizens.  Once progressives gain political control, they invariably eliminate those who think, especially those who think differently from them.

One of the methods used by progressives to gain control of assets that do not belong to them is go gain control of the hearts and minds of citizens by controlling the content of education, the propaganda in the media, and the doctrines of religion.   To progressives, all monotheistic religions are the identical because all monotheistic religions believe in one god.  Quite obviously, progressives think there is one God, a god that is common to all monotheistic religions, but only because one is a number they have in common.  It is obvious even to progressives that none of the gods of polytheistic religions could be the same as the god of any monotheistic religion.  This was obvious to the founder of Islam who was motivated to found a better religion than the polytheistic religions whose practices he abhorred.  Progressives currently appear to support Islam but progressive support of anything is only temporary.  Progressives think that unleashing and controlling Islam might assist them in their attempts to control Christianity and Judaism so that progressivism can control the minds and hearts of those whose allegiance and priority is to something greater than progressive leaders and the tyranny of the progressive state.  The greatest threats to Islam are not Christianity and Judaism.  The greatest threats to all religions, as well as to truth and to liberty, are the various forms of progressivism, forms that include communism and fascism, because the foundational principles of every form of progressivism are directly opposite to the foundational principles of any religion.

People of common sense understand, and progressives intuitively sense, that progressive leaders, but especially Barak Obama, and Bill and Hillary Clinton, have much more in common with Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Caligula, and Nero than with Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, or George Washington.  All progressives share admiration for, feel the need for, and worship the same form of godlessness, they all worship a tyrannical government that gives them control over other people, but especially that gives them control over other people's assets.  All progressives share a common desire to rip off their fellow citizens for their own private benefit.  Progressives politicians and administrators share a common lack of understanding or concern for the past, present, or future of their own institutions.  They behave like the progressive executives of the telephone companies and other corporations.  They all are public traitors for private benefit.

Progressive politicians and the media focus selective sympathy on any group that they can control or that they can use to control everyone else.  There is no group or behavior that progressive politicians and progressive journalists will not use as their next selected focus of public sympathy.  They create unmerited sympathy for the contrived unequal treatment of selected groups to force citizens to include members of those groups and to ignore any established standards.  Each group selected by progressives is simply the next step in achieving political control.  Progressives use programs like equal opportunity and diversity to force private individuals and private groups to accept members of groups chosen for selective sympathy, forcing others to hire them, to promote them, to support them, and to overlook their limitations.  Progressive programs microscopically increase diversity in individual private lives and in individual private groups by imposing limits on private choice and individual liberty.  Progressive programs macroscopically decrease diversity in society as a whole to create a mass of progressive pawns.  Progressive programs are found only within tyrannical governments but never within a free state or a free republic.  Progressivism is nurtured by judges, politicians, administrators, attorneys, educators, and executives who deny the existence of or simply ignore goodness, virtue, justice, existing laws, and constitutional authority.

Telephone company executives and progressives in general have little or no sympathy for the victims of distracted driving or their families.  Progressives have no sympathy for members of the military or police forces who protect them and enforce their laws, laws that are unjust or are unjustly interpreted.  Progressives have no sympathy for people with good character earned by making good choices under all circumstances, people characterized by traditional forms of virtue and goodness.  Progressives have no sympathy for the citizens whose assets they rip off by focusing undeserved sympathy in ways that impede the rational evaluation and prioritization of government spending.

Progressives have no sympathy for the elderly, whose bodies, like their progressive leaders, no longer support their needs or desires.  Without regard for attained virtues or past contributions, the assets needed for the health care of the elderly and infirm require redeployment for the political support of groups currently selected for public sympathy and for children being trained in public schools.  In reality, progressives do not care about the health of any citizen other than themselves.  Health insurance is not health care, especially when health care and health insurance are under the control of progressive politicians or managed by progressive administrators and executives, or when it is in the hands of anyone who benefits from progressivism and the many types of progressive rip offs.

Mark Twain noted that with arrogance and ignorance success is sure.  Taking on the executives of the telephone companies who, like all progressive leaders, weakly armed with arrogance and ignorance, is a single step in the direction of the only real progress available to mankind.  The elimination of all forms of progressivism, including its politicians, administrators, judges, educators and other elements of progressive government, ultimately will bring a restoration of lost liberties and potential for private virtue.

Why I submitted this report now

I wish there were a rock I could hide behind or hide under to escape this ripoff.  The ripoff report site, however, is not a news site, so the time passed since the date this ripoff began in no way diminishes its timeliness or importance because it continues and continues to expand.  This ripoff, measured in dollars alone, dwarfs most if not all the other reports on this site.  I decided to submit this report now for serveral reasons.

First, I cannot escape hearing illegal aliens or legal barbarians praising "Brock Obama who gave us free cell phones" when in truth he is just one of the progressive politicians in either political party responsible for contributing to the ripoff by taking credit for sensitivity for the needy while the telephone companies submit monthly service charge bills to U.S. taxpayers (via the IRS and federal treasury) for those "free cell phone services" that in fact recover the cost of the phones, the cost of phone services, and the cost of extravagant salaries and benefits to telephone company executives.  I continue to see telephone company executives at sporting events exhibiting their ignorance of the sport or the heritage of the teams.  I continue to see pitiful telephone company employees on commercials who appear to be innocent but who are either inexcusably ignorant of the ripoff or are themselves contributors to the ripoff.

Second, I am getting increasingly more telemarketing calls that should have been blocked by past regulation and legislation but are not being blocked because of the bribes sent to politicians and an endlessly increasing number of federal employees whose mere existence as well as their behaviors are ripping off all of us as measured by our resources or by our freedoms.  I see more and more telemarketing call centers being opened and staffed and more advertising for the telephone technologies to keep them running amok.

Thirdly, I want to present in one place the number of different ways used by telephone companies to rip us off.  I understand how difficult it is for those of you who suffer from diminished fortitude to initiate or continue the effort to limit or end this ripoff.  I would like to encourage you to start trying or keep trying to stop this ripoff that would in itself be just one step but a significant step in ending the use of selective sympathy for politically convenient groups to further the personal agendas of progressive leaders.  We are asked to feel sorry for selected groups of people who by some measure find themselves in some contrived state of inequality when inequality itself is no injustice. We are not asked, for example, by politicians or the media to feel sorry for citizens of East Germany or Eastern Europe who suffered first from fascism, then communism, and now the type of progressivism that is growing in the U.S.  We are not asked to feel sorry for unborn babies who are unable to ask their mothers why they are forsaking them.  We are not asked to feel sorry for the diminished state of soul of those who benefit from progressivism.  We are not asked to feel sorry for the large number of U.S. citizens who have the strength of character and common sense to recognize but still avoid playing the progressive game.  If we cannot make headway against the telephone companes do we have any hope of addressing insurance companies?

Look I actually get where you are coming from, but why complain now?

You are talking about "Lifeline" Cell Phone Service, well that has been around for 10 years since the FCC changed the rules.

The HP Exec you are talking about ran for Senate in 2010, and by the way she lost.  As for her "considering" running for President in 2016..well in all honesty you probably don't have to worry about that.

Telemarketers - well complaints about them have been around for decades.
