Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company sent me renewal notices for both their Activespeed software and their PC Scan & Sweep software for $29.95 neither of which I ever subscribed to in the first place.

I did once dowload their scan & sweep but when they wanted to charge me to fix the problems I exited out of the program and removed the software from my computer. I had gotten the Anti-Virus Pro 2010 virus and was looking for a free program to remove it. Their scan was free and purportedly found many problems but they wanted to charge me to fix the problems.

Needless to say I did not enter any credit card info. But this company says that it has my credit card info on file and that they would renew my subscriptions automatically. I told them if they do have that info that they obtained it illegally. I have contacted my bank and told them I would refuse any charges from that company. They have not responded to e-mails and do not answer their customer service number.

Please all beware of this company. They are the same ones that run the finally fast commercials on TV and as you can see from other reports here the software not only doesn't work but makes your computer even slower. On top of that they give you the run around when it comes to refunds.

I suggest cancelling the credit card you used to purchase the software. I know that is a hastle but it's the only way that you can prevent them from charging you again and again.

Notice that they have not posted any rebuttals to these reports here. They are a ripoff/scam and should be put out of business posthaste.

Ascentive's Response

#2UPDATE Employee

Sat, December 19, 2009

Hello, this is Chris Gordon, Email Marketing Manager at Ascentive.  During the weekend of Dec 11th to Dec 13th, a subscription auto-renewal email was accidentally sent to everyone in the Ascentive email database.  This database includes not only current and former customers but also recipients who may have received any information from us in the past.

The email was only meant for a small number of our subscription users. Ascentive would like to assure you that we do not have your credit card information and that this was not an attempt to obtain your credit card information. We offer our apologies for the error and you will receive no further emails from us in the future.
