Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I purchased an engine for my 1982 Oldsmobile in February from ASAP Motors and when I called back in two days to find out if it had been shipped I was told that evidently the person I spoke to (Brent) had failed to get the order out. When I purchased it for $495.00 plus shipping I was told by Brent that it had approximately 65,000 miles on it. The person I spoke to said that Brent had a family emergency and was out of the store for a few days. The person then told me he would see to it that it shipped that day or the next. After waiting a few days the engine arrived by SAIA Motor Freight.

When I saw the engine it appeared to me that the engine had far more that the stated 65,000 miles as it was quite rusty all over. The oil pan had a hole that had been cut in the corner of it I assume to drain the oil. I paid the driver for the freight which was more than what I had been told by ASAP that the freight would be.

I then contacted my mechanic and arranged for him to pick up the engine so he could install it in my car. The car I had bought the engine for had at one time belonged to my Father who is now deceased and it is in showroom condition with the exception of the engine which I wanted to put in it to bring the vehicle back up to running condition.

After my mechanic got the engine to his shop he called me the next day to tell me that he thought I had been deceived about the engine as it was in bad condition and that he had removed the pan to install another one and found that the engine that I had bought from ASAP had two bad rods and that he would like me to come to his shop so he could show me.

When I saw the engine it did in fact have two loose rods and made a bad knocking sound when it was turned over by hand. I feel that I as well as many others have been ripped off by this company and it does no good to contact them concerning problems as they will just blow it off and tell you one lie after the other. The engine is not usable and I have contacted two attorneys who are at present working on this matter.

Do not buy from these people as they are total rip off artists and should be completely out of business. Just read the many complaints that have been reported concerning their bad business practices and you will get the entire picture.

Thanks Stephanie for that information. I have talked with one of my attorneys this morning and relayed that to him. He had already been in contact with the office of the Texas Attorney general as well as the Greater Houston Chamber Of Commerce. He has gathered quite a lot of information from several other sources as well. It all seems to be moving along quite nicely. He had a certified ASE mechanic look at the engine that I had been sold and they took many photos and that mechanic will be submitting a written report to the attorney. Basically the certified mechanic stated that the engine I had been sold was worthless and would not even be good enough to invest in having it rebuilt. I am just happy that these folks will be called to the carpet over this sale of a bad engine to me not to mention their bad business practices with other buyers. I am not at liberty to give you a more detailed report at this time due to the attorney asking me not to divulge some of the things that he is currently working on and that he has told me. I will be happy to update what I can after consulting with him about it. I also hope that others will call the Texas State Attorney general's office as well as the District Attorney for Harris County which is the area where Houston is located. I also wish to thank this site for allowing the consumers a voice that some wished could be made silent. If you come up with more info that could be helpful please post it here. I do hope that you are successful in your endeavors to get justice as well. Many Thanks,

I also need to state that after my mechanic had looked at this engine he stated that in his opinion it had far more miles than the stated 65,000 and it was more than likely that the engine far exceeded 100,000 miles. He further advised me that he found an abundance of metal shavings in the bottom of the oil pan when he removed it to replace it. I truly believe that ASDAP sold me this engine with full knowledge of these facts and that they will do whatever it takes to sell an engine.
