I signed up for online classes at anthem College. I kind of felt that I had no choice. After a simple request for information, I was harrassed continueously! A divorced mother, the advisor and I discussed that a career change would be just what I needed. I enrolled in the criminal justice program. I was doing so well. Since it had been years since it had been years since I had been in school, I was quite proud of my my 4.0 GPA.

My oldest son, then 26, started having issues in Feb of 08. I then spoke to the advisor to request a temporary leave of absence until I could get some things resolved. She advised me to put it in writing along with proof and I did. On March 14,2008, I lost my son. After I was able to get myself together, I informed Anthem of my loss. I was then asked to write another letter and provide his death certificate. I did! In June of 2008, I contacted the school and asked if I could return. I had only three classes left. I was told at that time that Anthem was not accepting any new or returning students. I wad told to call back in January of 09. I have done this and was informend that Anthem was still not taking any new or returning students. Now I am left to pay Sallie May, I cannot transfer credits and cannot finish my last thee classes! I was hoping to obtain my degree by now, make more money and pay off my loans. Instead, what I have is the same low paying job, no degree, no credits, no way to finish my classes and NO ANSWers!!

I should have known something was wrong when they refused to take classes or give me credit for classes that I had already taken and had credit for at Baker College. Some of the classes were not only directly the same, but some were just worded a little differently (Oral communications VS. oral and written communications) for one, as a ploy to get more money! Anthem College (High Tech Inst) has taken advantage of people who only want to better themselves!

I hope that somone closes them down before the recruit any more victims!!

First, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Your situation with Anthem is terrible. I also have a complaint filed agianst them on here; I'm a former student. I have been dealing with Anthem to try and get a charge mistake corrected on my account, and have dealt with some very rude advisors. They went from night to day after I transferred. Anyway --- enough of my problems! The reason I am writing you today is to suggest looking into DeVry university. Anthem started to make me a little leary when I saw their Business Managment program was no longer offered. It made me even more leary to hear their accreditation was under very heavy investigation. After I started having inconsitancies with grading and technical problems on their website, I decided to look elsewhere. I had completed 76.0 of my credits towards my BS in Business Management. DeVry accepted 53 of those credit. Yes, I lost over a 1/2 of year worth of work, but at least my degree with transfer into the ground school for my MBA. My suggestion is, give them a call. They're not NEARLY as pushy as Anthem was. My admissions advisor was Jason Wade and the Financial Advisor I spoke with was Tyler Burgus. I had a million questions for these guys, and they made every effort to help me out and answer all of them. Serious Kudos to the DeVry staff. I'm now starting my first class with DeVry, and I must say, their education platform is a MILLION times better than Anthem. And it WORKS!! Ha. If you'd like to finish your degree, I'd give DeVry a call; see what they can do for you. If you decide to continue, you can apply for a deferral with SallieMae --- either pay nothing until you graduate, or pay just interest --- if approved, of course. But you're SO close to having your degree --- I wouldn't let Anthem's shady education plan deter you from getting the education you deserve! Good luck to you, no matter what you decide to do!
