I will not attempt to lie or embellish. As a matter of fact I will lay it all out for everyone. I got bids from All My Sons and Elite Moving; All My Sons being the pricer of the two. I'd used All My Sons in the past and had no problems with them but I was trying to save a little money so I went with Elite Moving. I scheduled back in Dec of '08 for a Feb '09 move. I figured everything was fine. They even called the week of my move to verify that I had a 9am move for Feb 7th.

Feb 7th rolls around I get up extra early to pack up the stuff I needed to move by hand. I even went and bought donuts and juice for everyone helping (including the movers). 9am rolls around and the friend who was offering the help of his van shows up. We start loading all the extra stuff into it. 9:15, 9:30, 9:45 am. No call, no e-mail, no contact of any kind. I call their number and get a recording telling me their hours of operation and to leave a message. Funny enough according to the recording they were open. I left a message and waited. 10:15 am rolls around and time is running short. My friend had to leave soon. So we pack up the remaining stuff and start to move it to the new apartment.

While driving to the new location I call them two more times. On the second call I finally get through to someone. She tells me "I don't know whats up with your crew I will give them a call and have them call you." Ten minutes later they call. They tell me that they were told I was supposed to be an afternoon move. I told them that I wasn't told that nor verified that. They tell me they are sorry but they can't do anything their truck is in the "shop." I ask them when/if they will get to me. They tell me they will get to me ASAP.

I make it to the new apartment, fill out the paperwork and get the keys. We move everything from the van into the apartment then head back. By the time we get back to my place its 11:15am and my friend has to leave. So I start calling over and over again to the main number and their 'emergency' number. I get no where. Just voice recordings. I call the crew back and its now almost 2pm they tell me that they don't know when they'll get to me but they were told by their boss that they have to do it today no matter what. Though he's trying to hint he doesn't want to do that and wants to reschedule (which won't work for me). I ask him to contact me as soon as he knows. I go out to lunch and come back. Its now almost 3pm. No call. I call them back one more time and they tell me the 'truth' that their boss double booked a move for 9am. At this point I'm obviously incredibly agitated and I tell them I'll contact them soon.

I call back All My Sons. I tell them my situation and apologize for the last minute request. They tell me they don't know if they can get a crew for today but can definitely get it first thing in the morning for $99/hr ($10 more than the original estimate but its understandable). Its a little steep for what I was expecting for the move so I tell them I'll call them back. Ten minutes later All My Sons calls back and says they can do it today and that their movers are on their way.

I called Elite and left yet another message telling them I no longer wanted their services. I called their crew and relayed the same information. From there my move went VERY smoothly. All My Sons was professional, quick, and worth the additional cost. My only suggestion about all this. Avoid Elite. I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt. But from the lack of communication to the outright lying I wouldn't suggest anyone risk any of their stuff, money, or time to them.
