Americas Service Station FUBAR Austin Texas
My 2003 Land Rover Discovery was running hot one morning about a month ago and I was close so I took it to the a*s location on Bee Cave Road here in Austin. I asked them to check the cooling system and left it. The next day, I picked it up afterr paying over $200 for a system check. They said they ran a pressure test, let it idle for 1 hour and drove it for 20 miles; everyting was working fine. I drove it to my office and sat there for a couple of hours and then left for home. At about 7 miles out the heater hose and a cooling hose blew, and the engine quit. I had to get it towed back in to a*s.
They SAY they have a 3 year warranty on their work, but then charged me an additional $486 to replace the throttle body (what?!) and the hoses, which would not have blown in the first place if the original work had been done right. On the drive home I noticed that the AC was not working, so I took it to a second shop the next day. They fixed the AC and told me that the old throttle body was fine and did not need replacing in the first place, and now is leaking oil.
On my third visit to a*s for overheating they FINALLY decide that they needed to replace the THERMOSTAT. Imagine that!
It ran okay for about 200 miles. Then, last night it blew up on me again. Original problem.
