I too was a victim of ARLG and William O'Toole's scams. I would be willing to enter a class action law suit if one is ever put into place. It was be nice to get my $1800 back, but I know that will probably never happen.

Jeanine,
I shall try to be brief. My daughter was a victim of Summit Legal. I saw through the scam and was able to deal directly with the bank and get her a loan modification. Since then, I have been reviewing complaints at various websites. I apologize for taking so long to find yours.
ARLG was the focus of many complaints and was shut down by the State of Florida early in 2011. Summit acquired their "client" list and ARLG clients were told to contact Summit (William O'Toole). Summit was another scam artist. The only lawyer at the firm, William O'Toole, was not involved in the day to day activities and he was eventually suspended on July 25 for causing great public harm. The non-lawyers at the firm included Randy Baker, Solomon Macari, Aren Anderton, and Elizabeth Baker, each of whom previously were with Baker, Kennedy, and Associates, since dissolved. Baker, Kennedy was the subject of an action by the Florida Attorney General's Economic Crimes Division on April 13, 2011. The AG went against the non lawyers running Summit in October (they were calling themselves Take2 at the time) and closed them down with a cease and desist order. The AG is going for restitution. It will be a tough fight.
There is a potential for a class action suit, but finding a lawyer has proven difficult. If you wish to become involved, please leave your email address on one of the complaint websites. This site doesn't readily show email addresses. There was someone who posted the name of a lawfirm for a class action and gave a phone number. That posting appears to be a dead end.
To complain to the Florida Bar call Sheila Tuma at 407-515-3248.
To complain to the Florida AG, call Terry Crossen at 561-837-5000 ext. 123.
Randy Baker at Summit was instrumental in having BBB complaints closed. Both firms now have either F ratings or creditation revoked.
Stories about Summit have been in the Palm Beach Post, Daily Business Journal, the Sun Sentinel, and on WSVN-TV. Go to the WSVN website and you can see what O'Toole looks like.
I can be reached at [email protected].
