Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Starting about 18 to 24 months ago, we received a call from a collection agency - Merchants Credit. The first call came in as a message on our answering machine.

I promptly returned the call to inquire about the "strange" outstanding account that we knew nothing about.

I was told that I, we or someone in our home had accessed an adult "pay" site, and that we owed in the neighborhood of $475 dollars! I asked when we had done this, and was given date and times in the wee hours of the morning. I was NOT too stunned, and simply said that there had been a mistake because my husband and I didn't access pay porn sites even during the daylight hours!

The collection person suggested that one of our children must have accessed the site. I informed her that we didn't have any children that surfed without us present. She then said that someone in our home, a relative, or a perhaps a visitor must have accessed our internet and the porn site. I told her we hadn't had any family or friends, relative etc. that used our computer at any time......after all, we live here, and we know who comes here, and what goes on!

She told me (in so many words) that we owed the money, and that they would pursue all avenues to collect the money, and that we would pay. Our credit was threatened by her. I told her to GO FOR IT, and do what she had to do, and that we would not pay a bill we didn't owe!

We have worked hard to obtain things, security, peace of mind, happiness and we always pay our bills promptly.

From that time we have received so many phone calls from these people. At first we used to talk to them, try to reason with them that we didn't owe them anything, because we didn't buy anything from them. These days they call at least once a day....sometime 2 or 3 times a day. We just hang up, and lots of times they hang up on us without saying anything.

I've contacted, and filed complaints with our State's Attorney General, and The Federal Trade Commission FTC in the last year. It just keep going on and on and on. Does anyone know of anyone that can help all of us stop this madness?
