I was billed $160 for internet porn I did not order and refused to pay.

Now Beth Taylor at Rephen Law Firm called to say that if I send them $291 via Western Union they will not "pursue legal action" against me.

I called back and reqested the attorney's name and American Bar Association number and she became enraged and verbally abusive. She said the attorney's name is Brad Rephen but didn't know his ABA number.

She then hung up on me and called back to tell me I have a "bad attitude" I called the New York Bar Association and they verified that he is an attorney in New York.

Not only should we go after Alyon Technologies we should try to get this lawyer disbarred.

Rephen is a faker

Brad Rephen is a faker. He is only licensed to practice Law in New York and only calls people who cannot sue him, eg. way out of New York. That means he can't even persue legal actions against anyone. Even so, he isn't going "to throw good money after bad" by spending thousands on legal expenses to collect hundreds from someone broke. He never even reports people to credit reporting agencies. That is the job of the merchant or the collection agency. So, don't ever sweat his threats, just ask for his address, write him that he should never contact you and sue him for every violation of the legal debt collection practice act.

Yes, Alyon is using lawyers now

My husband and I received a bill from Alyon for internet porn that we did not purchase. My husband was worried they would hurt our credit so he sent a check along with the note disputing the bill (huge mistake). When I found out he had paid the bill I pointed out the note at the bottom of the bill stating that no payment was due until the dispute was resolved. We then stopped payment on the check and wrote another letter denying the charges.

A few weeks later we received a notice of insufficient funds. I called to say we had stopped payment during the dispute and that we were not paying for filth we did not, nor will ever order. They showed no record of our request to dispute the bill.

Yesterday, Beth Taylor at the Rephen Law Firm called to say that Alyon had hired them to pursue legal action against us for a "bad check." Yes, they claim to be a separate entity. When I called the New York Bar they said that Brad Rephen is an attorney located in New City, New York. I have not received anything in writing from the law firm, just a phone demand that cash be sent through Western Union by 5:00 pm yesterday. As if I'm that stupid.

Once I discovered the BBB report on these slimeballs I continued my research and found the Rip Off web site. I no longer feel helpless because it will be fun to bring these guys to justice. The feds can't ignore hundreds of angry citizens complaining about Alyon.

I am sending a certified letter today demanding a response to my dispute. The bill stated that disputes would be responded to in 40 days. That time is up and no response.

So far I have filed complaints with the BBB, the Georgia office of Consumer Affairs, the California Attorney Generals office, and the IFCC. I will continue to file complaints with the other agencies recommended. In addition I intend to file a complaint under fair debt collections. I am also filing a complaint with the New York Bar.

Thank you Rip Off Report!!!

Is Alyon Going to lawyers now?

#4Consumer Comment

Is this lawyer working for Alyon? Are they bypassing their in-house "collection agency" and going to directly to attorneys?

Would the poster please give more information.
Was he ripped off by Alyon, receiving bogus billings and threatening letters?

If this is another Alyon technique ( and I would be amazed if Alyon would threaten to sue for an unpaid bill after only a few weeks) than this is legal harassement and the ABA must be notified immeditately. Particularly since the bill is bogus.

I am stunned that any attorney would go near such a lawsuit.

You must send Letters/ reports to all the agencies mentioned.
