We used All Stars "services" from Fort Worth Airport to Embassy Suites Fort Worth - 600 Commerce St. Upon leaving the airport we were making our way to the taxi rank when the driver for the company advised he could take us to our location at the same rate as a taxi. Before getting in we questioned whether the car was metered etc. He said he could take us to our hotel for $56, which we agreed was ok. We also told your driver on several occasions we were heading to Fort Worth and gave the address quite clearly. We are curently travelling from overseas and this was our first visit to Dallas.
We arrived at our "destination" - Commerce Street but once on Commerce Street the driver queried again whether it was Dallas or Fort Worth. I confirmed Fort Worth and showed him the reservation at our hotel. He then advised we were in the wrong spot and proceeded on taking us to the correct destination.
On the way I asked the driver if it was ok for him to go to Fort Worth and if it would be better to use a taxi service. He said whatever made us more comfortable. This would have been a prime opportunity for the driver to apologise for HIS mistake advise us that the cost would be increased more than significantly and give us the option to proceed or get out.
I have also just researched and found Embassy Suites in Dallas is not even on Commerce Street, it is located on N Stemmons Fwy. Upon getting in this driver advised he was familiar with the desitination when clearly it doesn't exist?!
We arrived at our destination about 40 minutes later. We had three bags so I stepped to the curbside to wait with the offloaded bags. My partner paid and only advised me once inside he had been charged $120. Again - not being from here and not wanting to start unecessary trouble he didn't argue the price. Once inside our hotel we asked the average cost of a trip from the airport to the hotel and they advised this cost was ridiculous and it should only cost around $80 with a private driver . We were also advised that a taxi would be even cheaper than this.
This was the drivers mistake so we should not have been charged extra unless advised and agreed upon.
Upon leaving Dallas we used a private driver recommended by the hotel to get to Fort Worth Airport. This trip only cost us $65 including at tip. I do not know how the initial charge is justified but I would be cautious with using their services unless you are familiar with the area you are travelling to.
